Thanks all. The missus and I are big 80s/90s Brit TV fans (Lovejoy, Wooster and Jeeves, Poirot, Campion); if anyone has recommendations for others we'd be happy to Netflix them.

Yeah, I'm just looking for an excuse to hop on a plane to England for a bass trade...

And to completely derail my own introduction thread: if someone says he is from Shetland, he means the island and not some area of London, right? Seems like people on this board would probably know :)

You've got brilliant taste in TV. I watched so much Jeeves and Wooster not so long back I was going around saying things like
"what's a chap supposed to do?" and lots of "bally people".

And yes, Shetland is just off Scotland.

Thanks. Good stuff! We've been running around here saying "What ho" and "Rah di rah di rah di rah, sir?" and singing 47 Ginger headed sailors. We just finished the last Lovejoy disc (wasn't the same without Eric) and are a bit stumped for what to watch next.

Early Taggart was feckin awesome before the main man died.

You may seriously struggle with the accent though haha!

Thanks all for the recommendations. I haven't heard of any of them, but I'll check them out.

Been to the UK once to visit some friends who went to LIPA..swung up to Scotland to visit the Pass of Killiecrankie and then down to London for a couple of days before heading home. Loved it, but didn't get to spend nearly enough time there.

When I worked in the orchestra on cruise ship in the late 90s, my friend was from the Welsh border just south of Liverpool. It took months for most people to be able to understand him. He soon realized he could get away with saying just about anything to just about anyone...funny guy. Anyway, by comparison, the Scottish accent doesn't seem that bad.
