This Seiwa looks nice, headstock/decal resembles an Ibanez, it's only £90, Chepstow's a bit too far for me unfortunately :(

It does look nice, as does the case.

I don't know how much the Westone Panteras go for, but I thought I had a vague memory that they go for good prices. If so, this £130 priced instrument (£20 delivery or collection in Dundee) might be a good price. This would be a good price for a Thunder 1[A].

http://www.ebay.co.u...=item1e87aa33f8

A quick google shows that they continued selling these into 1988, does that mean that some of them were made in Korea? If this is not Japanese, then take back everything I said. Edit: Matsumoku product MIJ on the neck plate. I must look at the details on the photos better in future.

Bit dented though.

That is a very good price, I reckon. Very 80s.

The real deal is the neck through, 2+2 headstock, top of the range, Westone flagship model Pantera Deluxe II X790 which are exceedingly rare and do go for very good prices (I have one, paid a lot for it). Those cost £600 new in 1987, which was a lot of money then. But I think the pickups and electrics are much the same, in which case it is HOT. I wasn't keen on the tone with roundwound strings but with flats it has been transformed into something rather quite special.

Tell me about it. Within collecting distance for me but unsurprisingly it's all over the web (someone on FB gave me a heads-up yesterday) and is bound to be long gone by the time I get organised.

Still, as I said, I need to be shifting stuff rather than buying more. Anyone want some JapCrap? :(

 Safer to just offer them crack. It's less addictive!
Quite correct, although I seem to be doing OK with my own dependency issues. I walked away from that Black Eagle (which was still available when I enquired) with only some minor shaking and only a brief panic attack. It's important to remember no addiction is ever beaten, and recovery lasts a lifetime. :)

With Ebay, surely you can beat the addiction just by bidding ridiculously low sums on instruments. Here's a Japanese Fender for you. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MIJ-Fender-Jazz-bass-guitar-/301107782355?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item461b6c22d3 All you need to do is bid, say, £25 on it. Much of the fun of actually seriously bidding, without the risk of large pieces of carved wood arriving in the post.

Quest bass - anyone know anything about these? Looks like a Washburn Force 4 with a Westone Spectrum neck.

Well - Quest is a Vantage sub-brand, and early Vantages (and Quests) were Matsumoku-built. There's a Quest catalogue here and this looks like it might be the model Q-B, although it's kinda hard to tell!

If anyone wants to sell me a Manhattan M-3BZ I'd be very willing to re-engage with my "problem"...

I think you are spot on, thanks Jon. Looks interesting. I wonder how heavy and how wide the necks on these fellas are?

There's a Maya telecaster bass that ends later today:

Looks quite nice but I'm not in the market...
