sorry if you hear this alot but...

I need a amp and i'm not sure what to buy?? I would like it to be gigable at small to medium venues and I have a budget of £200 with the credit crunch n'all,but , I have to buy it new.i have a deal with my local music shop and there order what i want in.

so any ideas ??

if its just the amp?the hartke 2500 head is great value and sound for the cash(around £190 mark on ebay)if its a combo you wont get anything good new!!shop around for a secondhand one be miles better,alot of bargains out there :-)a little bit extra £270 and you could get a peavey tnt 15" combo(very loud clean bit o kit)

hmm very tight budget for new mate :-( look around hard and a laney 300w 210 combo might come up as can be found cheap(also a cracking amp!)but from a shop for £200 wont be very good for giging,but if just for home you would be fine

Hi - rather than start a new thread, I find myself in a similar situation.

Recently returned to bass after 20 years or so, to help out a band -I was previously guitarist - rhythm and lead


I am happy to go up to £300 for a used combo

Stuff I play is Rock covers - eagles through to Red hot chilli peppers and metallica

I use an Ibanez active SX590 bass

Will be the bass player in a 6 piece band - 2 guitars, 2 girlie singers and a loud drummer..

Pub gigs - medium to large

Reasonable Bose PA

Currently using a Peavey - TNT 100 basic but loud but also limited - and way too heavy for an old man like me to lug around.... I put the bass through my Boss ME 50 guitar fx so I can get some chorus, tuning, reverb and wah..... not ideal I know ;-)


I am tracking the following on gumtree and ebay etc:

Trace 715 or 7215 or 7210 - 300w - each about 10 + years old or more
Trace GP11 and 15" Cab - very aged
Line 6 LD300 Pro - 3 years old - been warned away from these but others seem to love them??
Roland CB 100 - new. Maybe too lightweight

or something better that I haven't considered??

Please save me - I'm going snowblind!!!!
