Quick NBD - Squier 40th Anniversary Precision

I found a good deal on one of these locally and couldn’t resist snapping it up.

 

Love the blue - looks great in person and on camera! It just took a little setting up to get it playing well.

Sounds good too but I have a spare G&L MFD P pickup I’ve been itching to get into something.. hmmm 🤔 

 

Apparently these were made with laurel fretboards, but this particular one looks dark and rich unlike a lot of the dried out stuff I see.

 

Would these be considered Classic Vibe tier instruments?

I wanted one of these for ages but I'm not sure I'd get on with the neck width. 

 

In my opinion these are better than a Classic Vibe.

Nut width is 42mm and the profile feels very standard modern precision to me. Skinnier than my other P at 45mm!

Needs de-blinging (IMHO…) but beyond that it has more than usually solid bones which will take you a long way towards a bass experience which would otherwise be many times the price. Enjoy!

Most people will say the Classic Vibe is the better bass, but most people probably haven't even tried the 40th-Anniversary basses.

I bought this one when they first came out and it's every bit as good as the CVs...I have to say the neck on this one is the best Squier neck made.
