theplumber Posted Wednesday at 11:07 Posted Wednesday at 11:07 (edited) You may have seen this bass for sale on here last week. It's now missing! Was sold on e bay last week and picked up,scanned by DHL and taken to Edinburgh depot. Two guys came and picked it up,left in plain white van. Self employed couriers working for DHL?. Anyway it never arrived with the buyer on Friday and was sent using the E bay simple delivery system. You may know that e bay have revised their selling platform.....the less said about that the better! In saying that it has worked out ok now that time has passed and the guitar has been deemed missing. I won't say what I think has happened to the guitar but just a heads up for e bay sellers. Yes we both have our money but it was a bit stressful. E bay delt with it and there was no issues....So in the word of the old boy off the telly from years ago...If you have been offered a cut price Squier Classic Vibe P bass 2008 in Sonic Blue Serial number CGRK 08001666. And seeing the numbers at the end of that means there is a curse on anyone buying or playing it! May your fingers fall off one by one! Over and out! Edited 1 hour ago by theplumber 1 5 Quote
JJMotown Posted Wednesday at 11:36 Posted Wednesday at 11:36 You know dhl have a maximum size limit of 120cm. So unless your parcel was under this size, it may be being held as its incurred additional costs. 1 Quote
warwickhunt Posted Wednesday at 12:29 Posted Wednesday at 12:29 I know it is stressful but if you are saying that ebay have refunded you and the buyer is recompensed then I'd say that is far from an ebay 'woe'! If you'd sold it privately and shipped it yourself, you might be having a far greater set of woes to be getting an insurance pay out. 2 Quote

That's eBay's systems working bloody well if you ask me 👍 4 Quote

No....it just didn't arrive. The parcel was within the size and weight limits.Tracking showed it scanned in at my home and then marked not arrived. Also updated over last couple of days but it's marked as lost and eBay paid out to the buyer and myself. Yes...but imagine the disappointment when you buy a bass and it never arrived.Correct..with the old system I would have been stuffed. Quote
Beedster Posted Wednesday at 12:46 Posted Wednesday at 12:46 it's actually not an eBay tale of woe at all, they've done rather well, more like a DHL take of woe? 2 Quote
RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE Posted Wednesday at 17:04 Posted Wednesday at 17:04 EBay have been going through a lot of ‘changes’ over the last year or so . Probably longer . Finnicky ,and initially hard to get to grips with all the goings on I find . Don’t forget DHL have been taken over by EVRI ! My hunch is that EVRI are the culprits here! Also ,EVRI are being forced upon us if we use Next , M&S, John Lewis etc . Fwiw EVRI time I get deliveries from them ( apart from one occasion) , they are always late! The app only changes when you receive an email advising you that they will be indeed late ! When a parcel is due to arrive between 1-3 pm and doesn’t arrive until just before 10.30 pm you know that they are crap . Next have refunded me . I allow a few hrs, but if it’s after8 pm I complain on the next app! As for dealing with eBay sellers, I always ask what courier they use. One seller gave a snotty response so I advised them they lost a sale ! Also , the only real way to find out who the eBay seller uses is to press the ‘buy it now ‘ button . Then decide if you want to proceed or not . I stick with Royal Mail or dpd as much as I can . No courier co is perfect , but EVRI are absolute crap ! ( just my observation ) 3 Quote
tauzero Posted Wednesday at 23:28 Posted Wednesday at 23:28 Evri seem to have improved of late. Our local drivers have always been good, it's been the bit in the middle where Evri let you know that a parcel has disappeared into their cavernous maw and you know it'll be a week before it gets regurgitated that's been the bad bit, and that seems to have speeded up of late. Beedster Posted yesterday at 05:33 Posted yesterday at 05:33 Landing the eBay contract is massive for a courier firm so I imagine eBay bring to bear equally massive contractual clout including ‘you lose it you pay for it quickly’ type conditions. Huge companies like eBay probably have more chance of sorting the courier industry than do governments 🤔 2 Quote
theplumber Posted 17 hours ago Author Posted 17 hours ago The upshot was that e bay sorted it out pronto and both myself and the buyer got our dosh... 1 Quote
leschirons Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Well, if anyone on here happens to come across this bass at a gig, can you have a peek at the backline to see if they're also using my missing EBS combo. Thanks 1 Quote
theplumber Posted 1 hour ago Author Posted 1 hour ago There is a happy end to this story....The guitar arrived at the buyers home yesterday after being missing for 8 days! No idea what happened. The tracking stopped last Friday when it was marked as not arrived. The buyer raised a case with E bay and there was some tracking updates but I think they DHL,were looking in to it! Fair play to them them found it in Livingston a week after it was lifted from me! Oh and I must say sorry to the two guys in the white van that uplifted it from me! (They did look shady) Quote
Downunderwonder Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I guess ebay now have to extract the money out of the buyer on behalf of the courier? Quote
Burns-bass Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I think they deal with such incredible volumes of parcels these things happen. I had it with a super long parcel collected by Evri. (Stagg EUB). It sat for 5 days in the depot then was delivered the next day! I’m glad the buyer got the bass and I’m sure the money will be sorted out. Quote
