isteen Posted yesterday at 05:29 Posted yesterday at 05:29 I have been offered a Vester acoustic bass in a trade for my Ibanez short scale bass. Does anyone know anything about Vester. I have never heard of that brand Quote
itu Posted yesterday at 07:31 Posted yesterday at 07:31 Cheapo instruments, maybe Korean brand, from 90's? Quote
Hellzero Posted yesterday at 07:43 Posted yesterday at 07:43 (edited) It was indeed a cheap Korean brand that came out in the mid 80's, and lasted through the 90's. Nothing to fancy there, cheap instruments from the bad Korean period. Tried a few at the Musikmesse in Frankfurt back then, but none of them were great. upside downer Posted yesterday at 07:54 Posted yesterday at 07:54 I have a Vester Catalina P-bass copy. Gigged it a few times way back when, did the job. Quote
Pea Turgh Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago If you like the Vester more than your Ibanez, it’s a good trade. Doesn’t matter what is or where it was made! 1 Quote
Bassassin Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago 90s/00s Korean brand, apparently good quality, & mostly copies. Got into some bother with Fender over the similarity of the logo on their, erm, Fender knockoffs. They made some originals including the Argus bass, which I had GAS for for a long time. And I still regret not picking up the one that was on here for £100, quite a lot of years ago. Yep. I still want one. 1 Quote
tauzero Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago Also made a Warwick, er, tribute. I had one that had been defretted. That did me until I got a cheap Thumb and had it defretted and the neck reprofiled to JD Thumb dimensions. 1 Quote
RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago I got a fretless Warwick thumb copy back in 1996 .Vester custom shop . Got it to see if I could play fretless ,and how difficult it would be to adapt .It looks the same as Tauzero’s above. The neck is fantastic, the strings are a very light gauge. I was told by a couple of basschatters who saw the bass , that it was a quality instrument. The strings are groundwound , which are supposedly expensive but make the bass really easy to play. It has a brass nut also. The only downside I’d say , is the weight . Quote
