FretsOnFire Posted September 27 Posted September 27 Don’t suppose anyone knows where I can get a rickenbacker copy from in the uk do they around 400? I’ve seen the Harley Benton version but the headstock puts me right off of it Quote

A friend of mine ordered a "Bongo" from Ali Express. It looked ok from 20 feet away if you had your eyes closed. Electronically it was an absolute nightmare. As @police squad said, Rickenfakers on Facebook is the best place to start. The only "legal" copies available like HB or Rockinbetter are vaguely similar in appearances but that's it. 2 Quote

PaulThePlug Posted Wednesday at 19:22 Posted Wednesday at 19:22 (edited) Alibackers... I commissioned this, my design mixing the normal ric-ish 4001/3 with the 4004 Lemmy-alike as i likes a No Pickguard rear route, from a vendor on Aliexpress. A cut and paste computer job mock-up was done whilst layed up with a broken ankle, and sent to a couple of vendors.. But Ali's are 34" Scale length Thick Body, Neck raked back - think Les Paul Which was the biggest issue as it meant a BIG elevation at the bridge, The cheap ric-fake bridge overhung the body in order to intonate! It's still work in progress with a Hipshot Ric Bridge to be tried, but thats gonna need a spacer. Landed at about £250ish no inport/customs fees. If i were you - I wouldn't... The Bad outweighs any Good... How i would love a Cheyenne Edited Wednesday at 19:29 by PaulThePlug 2 Quote

There's been progress - they seem to have finally managed to drag themselves in to the mid-late 20th century with truss rods & intonation adjustment, after all! 1 Quote
