I chose to use two 14k Pups both higher output units which offer a huge range of very diverse tones. The Harley Benton is great starting bass for pup up grades. Alder body, bound neck, nicely finished, all for £199. 2 Quote

Such an amazing looking Mustang you got there @BassAgent 🤘🔥 Fender were aiming for this colour with their latest Vintera II 70's in Burgundy, but nothing beats a real colour, fading naturally over decades. 3 Quote

Yeah, I had that the Vintera II and it didn't come close to this in colour or mojo. 1 Quote

Yep, agreed. The original colour is still visible under the control plate: 6 Quote
miles'tone Posted September 15 Posted September 15 Squier Classic Vibe, Labella MUS flats, Gotoh Resolite GB528 tuners, and I'm installing a set of Sentell handwound pickups and a new wiring harness on Weds. Can't wait for that! It sounds fine as is to be fair, but, y'know how it is... 7 Quote
uncle psychosis Posted September 15 Posted September 15 As someone who loves Mustangs but doesn't really like PJ setups at all, this thread is giving me very mixed feelings... 1 Quote

Ritsugamesh Posted September 16 Posted September 16 Currently just rocking the JMJ for specific gigs/bands I work with, and do still migrate back to a P or J for other projects. I am another on the pile of fallen soldiers in the fight for that Atelier Z @DanDoesBass - so much so that I currently have Danny Stewart from Bass Japan Direct trying to specifically hunt one for me. Have you ever seen the insanely rare Ocean Turqiose? Because I would sell an organ for it 😂 I've spoiler warninged the picture because it's definitely one of those... Once you've seen it you can't unsee it type of basses. I am unsure if he'll be able to actually find one in the wild. Spoiler 4 Quote

uncle psychosis Posted September 17 Posted September 17 1 hour ago, DanDoesBass said: @uncle psychosis how come? Not sure what you mean. If you mean "how come the mixed feelings" its because there seems to be a modern trend to ruin otherwise awesome Mustangs with a J pickup. If you mean "how come you don't like PJ" its just because it never works for me. The J is too weedy/too noisy/too unnecessary/just doesn't balance. I am a huge fan of Jazz basses - its P, or JJ, or go home IMO! 2 Quote
Byo Posted September 17 Posted September 17 I saw this Atelier Z Baby Z over on Talkbass, when doing some research before @DanDoesBass claimed his bounty 😄 This is the one that stays in my head @Ritsugamesh 2 Quote
