andy66db Posted Friday at 17:50 Posted Friday at 17:50 (edited) I have a lightly aged Sonic Blue Alnus Jazz Bass. Yes it’s an aged Fender copy, but it absolutely blew my Road Worn (Mexican) Fender Anniversary 60s Jazz Bass out of the water. The workmanship, the quality of the ageing (very subtle in my case) and the playability is up there with custom shop Fenders, for a quarter of the price. I sold the Fender (for what I paid for the Alnus) and now have a three bass collection — a ‘72 Precision, an ‘86 Stingray and the Alnus Jazz, which really holds its own alongside the other two. I couldn’t be happier with it. Edited Friday at 17:50 by andy66db 2 1 Quote

Met this amazing Dutch player in a beach bar in Portugal last year, doing a lunchtime music set, and I became a bit obsessed with them for a while. He did a amazing rendition of Roxanne and other 80s hits. Quote

(But plugged in it sounds really impressive.) I'm finding the fattest bass string gets in the way of the next one, which is a hindrance. I have done various bits of tapping on the bass, so I'm either really impressive doing those things I have muscle memory for or really useless searching around for notes. I play guitar, but fretting notes with my right hand and playing scales seems to go against the direction my fingers want to go. All-in-all, it's interesting... 1 Quote

BassApprentice Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Whilst they might be yet another clone - he does make replacement Jazz/P/Mustang necks for under £200. That's not bad all things considered. Quote
Skybone Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Just be careful you don't miss out the "L" when discussing them... Quote
