tauzero Posted June 5 Posted June 5 I've just had an email from Strings Direct telling me that tomorrow is World Strings Change Day. At about £30 a bass plus a tenner per guitar, that's about a thousand quid I've got to find, not to mention two days of work. I think I will ignore it and hope it goes away. 1 3 Quote
Count Bassy Posted June 6 Posted June 6 I'm very strict about changing strings: Every 15 years, whether they need it or not. 2 Quote

miles'tone Posted June 6 Posted June 6 (edited) Business must be slow because flatwounds are really popular again 😆 Edited June 6 by miles'tone 1 Quote
Terry M. Posted June 6 Posted June 6 The more I try different strings the more I'm convinced they all have in more in common than they don't regardless of brand. I used to be really swayed by the marketing machine but not so much these days. I say that to say whenever a "favourite" of mine becomes too expensive I jump ship to something cheaper and I can't say I've been overly disappointed if at all. I think it was Paul McCartney that was asked what his favourite string choice was and he replied "Long shiny ones" I like that response 😊 2 Quote

Louis Johnson was asked what strings he used. He replied, "I don't know, what do they put on a Music Man". Apparently he'd been slapping for years with the set of flats his bass came with. 2 Quote

Anyway, it was June 6th 2025, and I missed it, so I'll wait until 2035 now. Edited 5 hours ago by TimR Quote

That equals: B x £30 + g x £10 = £1000 g x £10 = £1000 - B x £30 B = 33 AND g = 1 Solved. Could you share some pictures of your basses, that g-word sidestep is not of importance. 1 Quote
