I had a crack at chelsea the other night as part of my plan of stop playing as much disco all the time.I think this bass line is superb, and it is very unusual compared to the way i usually play.I never hear much about bruce thomas but i think i might buy his book on being in the atractions. I dont think he and Elvis costello got on though.

Saw a mate recently for the first time in a while. He mentioned that one of his friends down the pub is a bloke called Bruce who used play bass with Costello. My mate couldn't understand why I came over all unnecessary like.

BT definitely one of the criminally overlooked British bass players.

When i saw the thread title my immediate thought was that Bruce thomas was never in Chelsea...imagine my grin when i realised that you meant (i don't wanna go to) Chelsea and not Gene Octobers new wave band with the same name...never a dull moment in my house.

Have a look at Pump it up. Great bassline that drives the song the whole way through

Hard to say as he keeps a pretty low profile. I think he might be more into his writing these days. Bass Guitar Magazine should definitely interview him.
