My vow to not buy any more gear is failing quite spectacularly! With the purchase of a couple of Jazz basses called Brian!

I don't know much about these at all so any info much appreciated. They appear to be really well put together!

Got some info from the internet

Quote

Brian by Bacchus Jazz Bass, made in Korea late 90s, teal finish. Surely in all of guitar history, no brand name as ever been as simultaneously daggy and awesome as 'Brian'. Bacchus guitars enjoy a famed reputation for exceptional craftsmanship, attention to detail and wood selection in Japan, so much so that they really haven't bothered marketing their excellent offerings internationally. Brian was Bacchus' first shot at manufacturing outside of Japan, and were made very briefly in the late 90s in Korea.

Model: Brian by Bacchus JB-style
Made: Korea, late 1990s (no serial on these)
Finish: gloss
Body: alder (unverified)
Weight: 4.475kg
Neck: maple, 15" radius, 34" scale
Pickups: Bacchus 8-pole single coils

They appear to be very similar in colour with one with a blueish green finish which I suppose is teal. The other is green both look very nice and sound great. They are relatively heavy though, they were apparently imported from Japan to the UK.

I only wanted one but they were both excellent so I just got them both,

Really nice. What did you find these?

Ive not info on them. Dan from bass japan direct will prob be your beat bet to find out more info tbh.

A guy was selling them locally, I just saw them and thought they were cool. The only thing I can find is a few Reverb ads. But they seems very well made.

 Oh nice.

from dan a bass japan direct I only know Bacchus as a Japanese instrument company. I didn’t know they had done made outside Japan.

Bacchus top end models is considered on par with  Atelier, moon, dragonfly and momose. I may have missed some but these are frequently spoken about

Both of stevieDee's are Bacchus's Malaysian copies of the Japanese Bacchus's BJB98 Jiro (Yoshihito Wayama) signature Basses. Basically What Brian is to Bacchus is what Squire or Epiphone is to Fender and Gibson. Their more affordable cousins.

I own 3 of the Japanese originals.

2 piece center seam Alder bodies. Maple on Maple Neck and board. Originally done in a blue-tinted clear nitro that can and does change to a sort of sea green over time. Gotoh hardware and Bacchus custom shop pickups. These are high-end guitars. The Fit and finish is superb.

Just about everyone of these instruments I've seen has a round sticker or had a round sticker on them. I'm guessing this was something Jiro from the Band Glay had on his bass so everyone wanted to copy him.

Here's two of mine. Notice the colour change even though both are around the same age. One obviously played in and been exposed more to beer, sweat and UV

Why do I have three, I hear you ask... because I can't find a fourth or a fifth one, at this present time. They are really nice Basses. There's a video or 3 on youtube if anyone wants a demo on what they are about.
