Right. This bass sounds amazing. 

Front pickup single coil sounds magnificent with a bit of top end drive. Both pickups series sounds like a 60s Thunderbird.

I'm pretty gobsmacked.

... and both pickups in single coil mode gives you a super bright 70's Jazz sound. It sounds huge for £150, eh?

You know, when I got mine a couple of years ago, I thought about getting a (non-aged) pearl pickguard done, but never got round to it. So... I might join this bandwagon. What's the best way of contacting Brian these days - still through Ebay?

After watching this thread, umming and ahhing and convincing myself I don’t need another bass (I really really don’t), I thought I was out of the woods when they sold out on andertons. 
 

but I thought I’d check eBay anyway. £149 and change later, an ‘out of box but unused’ black soloking will hopefully be on its way to me soon! 
 

I really need to stop reading these threads!

I 'did a Trav' and also bought a blue and a black one.......

 

Both played fine out of the box - I'll do a bit of playing then give them a tweak if needed.......

 

bargain - 2 decent basses for £298 delivered!

 

I've got  a function band gig this sat, so will take one with a Jazz and see how it fares.......

 

I used the blue one last night in a little low volume rehearsal and no issues really.

Still trying to work out the switching and pick up configuration options though.....

The same happened to me when Thomann were doing the Squier 40th Anniversary models at daft prices and also when some company were selling the Yamaha Sessioncake for just over a tenner. Basschat filled their boots on both counts.

Righto - good news

 

Earlpilanz (Brian) has messaged me and the pickguard is a “category 2” size - I paid for category 3 - so I got some money back.

 

fair play to him for being up front; again why I use him frequently.

 

he has mine - so if you want one doing, it’s the time.

funnily enough I bought on second hand black one on BC (possibly via this thread-can’t remember) on a whim last year. 
as others have said- ABSURD spec and build quality for the money (even at £250), let alone £150 (aka Glarry) money. 
not sure how they’re doing this for the money (as with some of the newer Harley Bentons).

I’ve noticed though - the headstock finish is very fragile on these. Already a couple of marks on it.

 

Ah well - they’ll be very busy basses so a bit of real relic’ing wont kill anyone.
