Like all things reggae, what appears, on the surface, simple, is more often than not, extraordinarily difficult. I once depped on drums for a reggae band thinking it would be a piece of pish... It wasn't just difficult, I found it impossible. Reggae bass lines are, likewise, bastards.

Yep. I've ended up stripping it down and counting the old 1e+u 2e+u and seeing exactly where the notes fall.

Black Uhuru are my favourite band and I play a lot of their basslines but there’s quite a few that trip me up if I haven’t played them in a while, Robbie Shakespeare had a wonderful way of slightly changing things around part way through, darkness is one

No worries. I've been working through a lot of LKJ bass lines, they really sound simple, but... they 'ain't. Reggae is tough.
