Right, went down to see Bernie this morning, and took a few snaps of the bass so far, i'm very very very very very very very very very very very very excited!!:):D:D

Here's what it looked like last time, i'd been quite specific as to what i wanted , and i think Bernie has excelled!!

And here is the progress, its still rough sawn, but i think its gonna be stunning!! the thru neck is almost there, Bernie has used Ebony for the splices, as well as the fret board , a lovely jet black, this is a first for a GB !!

to give you an idea with knobs and hardware,

JUst look at this wood, its outrageous!

only a matter of weeks now, i'm gonna get led's , not decided on colour yet, and i'm going to try some single coil p/ups, which can be changed if i don't get on with them.

James.

Hey James - saw this last night and I have to agree that the ebony stringers look fantastic in the flesh... and the maple on the neck is outrageous. A good selection of timber there. The ebony pinstripe around the body is going to look stunning when that thing is polyed up also. You must be pretty stoked. It's not going be long before it's going to be in your hands!

Congrats!

PS amber (there is a really cool colour called sunset or something...) or purple LEDs!

That Buckeye Burl really is a bit special. Interesting the way Bernie builds the bass around the nect and then cuts out the body shape.

My new bass has a burl front , Amboyna (Hondo Mahogany body, Flamed Maple rear). It's at the spraying stage as we speak and I'm gettin' pretty excited I can tell ya.

That is going to be an amazing bass - and very unique.

I am waiting for some pics from Bernie as we speak for my Rumour which is well on it's way and should be ready for Xmas. I have some pics like your of the wood that I chose for the facings etc and am hoping for others from Bernie which show the middle stages before the guitar is finished. I know what you mean about being excited I can hardly wait either.

The best thing about GB Basses is not only that they look fantastic but they play and sound awesome too!

Cheers

Mark

  • 3 weeks later...

Well, its almost done, hopefully will pick her up on Tuesday (a nice early xmas present (to myself)! ) Bernie was kind enough to send me some pics to tide me over the weekend.

He has stressed that they are not great photo's due to the lighting, and is even more beautiful in person.

i've decided to go without LED's (for now) .

oh, and a bit of t shirt porn too,

Come on Tuesday!!! :)

James.

You're a bad man James - that looks awesome!!!

Last time I spoke to Bernie he was hoping to get my Rumour 4 finished by Xmas for me to pick up so if you see a 4 string with black american walnut facings back and front then that is mine!!!

I hassled Bernie for some pics a week or two ago and they couldn't send them as their ISP was down or something - I guess this must be fixed now??

Let us all know how she plays when you pick her up on Tuesday and some final finished photos would be great too.

Bet you are like a small excited child again? - Roll on Tuesday eh!

Mark
