Recommended Posts

Alright dudes! I was excited to find that Darkglass have teamed up with Neural to great a Darkglass VMT/B7K Plugin. Anyone got it? Ill be getting the trial next week when I've got time to have a good play. Just wanted to know if anyones got it and has any thoughts?

Cheers dudes!

2 friends have it and have both bought it. I've not heard it yet.

1 of them also has Helix Native (which does have the B7K model in it) and is still buying it.

I'm going to try it myself at the weekend.

I wouldn't touch any software that needs iLok with a bargepole.

You don’t need the iLok itself, just the iLok License Manager software.

As a ProTools user, I get the hate for the iLok but sadly also it’s the only way to legitimately run ProTools, unless there are workarounds out there I haven’t bothered looking up.

EDIT: I downloaded the trial and it’s awesome. Instead of running a parallel channel with a bunch of plugins trying to mimic the B7K metal tone, I can drop one instance of the Neural plugin on my bass channel and get the sound I’m looking for. Sounds just like the pedals I’ve heard in tons and tons of videos. I’ve never owned a Darkglass pedal, but I’ll likely buy the plugin for £99.

I have Line 6 Native and will be looking forward to trying the DG plug in out too. I also use the awesome Positive Grid BIAS 2 and BIAS FX apps on my studio box. It'll be interesting to compare!

I normally use a B7K and now recently also a VMTU v2 and after trying out the VMTU-plug during a recording session, I am sold. The sound engineer was super happy too. €99 for the VMTU and B7KU is good value for money.

I notice Neural have a new plugin for bass - Parallax.

https://neuraldsp.com/products/parallax/

I'm no fan of Darkglass products really (undoubtedly darkglass based) but this could be a must buy for me! Ticks SO many boxes...

I've been using and have reviewed the DarkGlass Ultra (which I think will be out in an up coming issue soon). It is very good indeed, but like Bigwan, the announcement that Parallax has landed has me very interested as it seems to encompass lots of "building blocks" that I have been using in my rack set ups and more recently smaller gear configurations for well over 20 years!

Alas I'm not enough of a guitar player to truly take do it justice!

I might have to get a couple of the demos to see what the fuss is about. I've got a great pair of monitors and a halfway decent interface so this could be fun.

They're so good they prompted me to upgrade my audio interface so I could enjoy them with lower latency than my old USB2 one could manage...

An update to my previous post: I have now recorded reviews of the Darkglass Ultra plug-in and Parallax. I don't think the Parallax review is live yet though.  Both are excellent plug-ins!!!

Various pedals for sale, all are in excellent condition, boxed (unless stated)and velcroed ready to fix to a pedalboard.
      1. Cog Custom dual overdrive (basically 2 x Knightfall 66 pedals in one unit) . It has two fully independent channels, you can use A or B or one cascading into the other. There is also an extra jack so you can insert a toggle switch or control on/off from a loop switch, like the Boss ES-8. The labeling on the pedal is the original buyers nickname.  It is bassically a fully channel separated Knightfall 66 Bass Overdrive, but with cascading ability. - £150
      2. Darkglass Super Symmetry 115 GV Compressor £190
3.Owen Elecronics Bass Bomb Driver. This is the last one of these Martin ever made. One of the best overdrive/fuzz units out there, does every type of gnarly, face ripping overdrive/fuzz without any loss of low end, a true holy grail pedal. also acts as a power supply unit, running up to 800mA of load. Runs off 12v centre positive, I’ll supply a suitable lead for your power supply. Not boxed but comes in a natty black bag £200
      4. Markbass Chorus/Flanger, 12v operated, 3 chorus and 3 flanger presets £100
      5. Polytune original white version £45
      6. Rothwell Love Squeeze compressor -  £80

Darkglass Duality Fuzz - £110 inc. UK postage
Perfect working order No original box but will be well packaged Shipped via Royal Mail "The Duality is a unique fuzz pedal that contains two discrete fuzz circuits—a gated saw-tooth wave and a raunchy high-gain sound—which can be mixed together to yield a vast selection of distinct sonic textures."
Really cool and great sounding pedal - surplus to my needs!

I’m selling my Darkglass M900 V1 amp, plus Darkglass case. This amp is in brand new condition. It comes with the original box / packaging. The footswitch has never been used. This amp has been used in rehearsals, and on 6 gigs which were the recent ones (December 2019) I did supporting Steve Harris' British Lion around the UK. If it helps, this amp was played through his Iron Maiden speakers and it sounded even more amazing, but that could just because I couldn't believe I was playing through his speakers, and/or touring with my hero.   Anyway,. I have finally shifted to In Ears, so this is now surplus to requirements. An incredibly versatile amp, and not just for metal. In covers all eras of music, easily. It’s also, very powerful. Collection from Cardiff is preferred but I am happy to meet within a 50-mile radius of Cardiff, and if preferred, I'm happy to post at the buyer's expense. Grab a real bargain, now. If you have any questions, please drop me a PM, I am happy to help in any way I can. No trades please, as I have all the equipment I need. Thank you. Take care, and Happy New Year to one and all.

Putting my Darkglass head up for sale as since I bought a Helix I’m no longer using it to its full potential, just been running it as a power amp. Great head, loads of headroom and the Microtubes engine is top notch. Gigged but in great condition. Comes with a protective case, intelligent footswitch, kettle lead and a speakon lead. I’m looking for something maybe more neutral sounding to suit my Helix.
Collection only or possible meet. Any questions fire away 😊
