Loving this little surge of boards off everyone again!
today's board - loving the aggy!
Hows the low end for you with it? Ive always found it kills mine and takes all the oomph out of my tone. I dont like using it in a blend so im not sure what to do with it.

50mm f/1.4 and a DSLR that does well in low light conditions (ISO).
I've read that 4 times now and still dont know what it means but it sounds cool. I sometimes sneak a couple of mouthfuls of my pint during slow bits on our songs, I've often thought that's not far off Geddy's multi tasking.
Yeah, I get halfway through a song and I'm gagging for hydration. Basically, I push one of the pedals on the Behringer FCB and it sends a note-on message to the microkorg; this means I can play synth bass with my feet whilst playing guitar with my hands. It allows my angular/glitch band to sound a lot fuller and more complicated than a 3-piece without adding more players.

You youngsters with your new fangled ideas! No idea what an angular/glitch band is either. You are making me feel like a dinosaur.

A few on the chopping block that are about to go on the board....

My newest creation is a circuit I've been working on. A fuzz with clean blend and impedance buffer for active basses. I did the custom artwork as my tribute to Fulci's epic "Zombie" movie.
Took a lot of time creating the art then printing on a dye sublimation printer, then laminating and applying. I like how it turned out :)
Nice work sir! Are all of those pedals your own creations? I've never owned a single pedal that looked as cool as any of them

I can't wait for the rest of my pedals to arrive, I'm itching to add to this thread properly!
Thank you sir.
The Zombie and the one on the very right (black pedal with a creepy looking face) are both my creations.

The two on the left are the Barber Trifecta and Earthbound Audio Supercollider.

Zombie pedal is awesome looking. Great work. Your description is of interest to me as well as I am strictly an Active Bass user.. Does the buffer auto detect the optimum level and do the job for you, or is it dial controlled and you just 'tune' it to your bass? I'd be very interested to hear samples - same settings, one used on a passive and one on a hot 18v circuit (like a bart)…

You should do similar with a Gate as well and have an active friendly Woolly Mammoth-esque pedal… I', sure that would appeal to ALOT of bassists.

Thanks :) A little more info about that pedal....

The three knobs currently are volume, gain, and blend. The toggle switch is not really working out the way I'd like it to, so I think I'm going to be constructing a circuit with an input impedance dial, so to speak. You don't really hear the difference when using the toggle, but you can hear the EFFECT it has on how "sputtery" the fuzz gets (which usually happens with high output basses)
I use 18volt MTD's almost exclusively, so I am in the same boat. That's what led me to start messing around building this box to begin with.

The next prototype I'm actually working on with a knob for the impedance works in the following manner:
The input impedance of the pedal would hold steady at a little less than 1 MegOhm, since the 1-Meg pot is in parallel with a 10-MegOhm resistor in front of it. Rolling the impedance knob to, say, halfway would move about 500 kOhms of resistance into series with the audio signal before the first JFET and provide the remaining 500kOhms to ground, but the impedance, as I recall, would stay roughly the same - I'm working out the fine details.

Amazingly that actually makes sense to me! Very interested to hear the results! Keep us posted.

No problem, happy to share. The one thing I will be adding is a tone knob as well. I didn't include it on the zombie pedal, since it's just another hurdle to overcome in the completion of a proper circuit. The gain knob just has a generic voice currently, and I need to have the ability to get deep and bassy as well as biting treble "bees-in-a-can" sizzly fuzz.

I will definitely share with you guys once I've got something.

I have not been able to stop humming and whistlin that Rubber Jonny track out since you posted it. It's got one of those timeless melodies you just cant get out of your head.
This is kinda 'Angular'

This is kinda 'Glitch'

But neither of them are really angular or glitch, I just like the tunes.

Trouble is even having done that.... it's not a patch on the Akai SB-1..... now how do I raise the money to buy another one of those....

I prefer it to the SB-1 (used to love mine). I spent an entire day in front of the computer about 6 months back am basically managed to reproduce all but 2 sounds I love on the SB-1 in the MarkBass. Yeah there were 2 I couldn't get close to, but a million extra donut was a fair trade.

Having just finished a studio session as well, the MarkBass really came into it's own. Crystal clear sounds.

I can understand the love of the SB-1 though. Regardless of what it does or doesn't do, it just has a... 'damn that's cool' thing going for it! :)

The one thing thats' really bugging me with the MB unit is that when switching between the effect and true bypass.... the bass in true bypass is slightly louder than with the effect setting and no matter how I adjust the balance level on the effect channel to give more bass and less effect, it's still the same... annoying the hell out of me.

That is quite odd… Mine was the other way around (effect was way to loud!). I have the effect itself pre-programmed to run at max volume (63?) and leave the dial on the far right at max (to avoid any confusion on where it should be if you tweak it). Then just adjust the gain accordingly.

I have just had a look around the net though and it seems the system has changed! I found this for sale - http://www.gear4music.com/Guitar-and-Bass/...Synth-Pedal/AXU which is totally different to mine and appears to have the octave section removed but the bonus that you can scroll up or down through the patches. mine however is like this - http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_sp...ass_Pedals.html

Which version do you have?

Yes 63 is correct.... I must have the same version as you then as mine has the Octave as well (which is absolutely rubbish). I like the sounds it produces but it's a lot of money for a pedal thats just ok in my opinion. The software to adjust the sounds is very glitchy too. Having trouble reading and writing to the pedal

Yeah I'd agree about the Octave section (that always jumps in volume even when the synth section id balanced) - I wish I'd known about the newer 3 dial version without as that looks as though you can scroll up and down through the patches rather than just up. Not had any issues with the software, however I hears its VERY funny about peoples computers, even if you blow the required spec out of the water it just decides if it likes the machine or not. Thankfully it likes my mac!
