Woodinblack Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 Anyone have the 16? I can't justify the cost of the 18 but the 16 is half the price, and am pretty happy with 8 microphone channels and 4 busses. I assume the functionality is the same but just less of. Quote
sunburstjazz1967 Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 16 here, yep its great, 4 individual monitor mixes, 31 band eq on both FOH and the monitor sends, fx sounds really natural, gated kick drum, etc etc etc. Quote
In addition - Main differences are the lack of multitrack recording - XR16 will only do a stereo mix - and the XR16 doesn't have Ultranet, which is used for the separate P16-M monitor mixers.
I knew about the lack of multitrack recording, and that is a bit of a shame to drop off (but again, the price difference is about double, so I can live with it). Not sure what the monitor mixers are - will have a look into that to see if it is something I need. Quote
Dropzone Posted July 18, 2016 Author Posted July 18, 2016 So I have finally pulled the trigger and purchased one. Is anyone aware of a decent forum to discuss these units? Quote
FuNkShUi Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 There is a Behringer one somewhere. Could always ask on here though. There are a fair few users i think Quote
Dropzone Posted July 18, 2016 Author Posted July 18, 2016 First problem is my phone app doesn't look like the mixer in the youtube videos, I will try it on a tablet and see how I get on. Quote
stingrayPete1977 Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 I prefer to use my big Samsung tablet to my phone, Apple looks different to Android and laptop is different again with LOADS of extra features. Quote
Dropzone Posted July 18, 2016 Author Posted July 18, 2016 Thanks, that was what I was guessing, I couldn't even find the big eq strip???? Quote
Woodinblack Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 If you click on an individual channel, you get the panels up the top that apply to that channel. Then hitting the EQ button brings that up. Quote
+1 it's better to work with on a bigger screen. We use a fairly cheap android tablet which works fine. Doesn't need to be too fancy as all the processing is happening inside the xr not in the tablet. Quote
FuNkShUi Posted July 19, 2016 Posted July 19, 2016 Cant imagine doing it on a phone! That must be tough to even see everything Quote
stingrayPete1977 Posted July 19, 2016 Posted July 19, 2016 Once you have learnt all the functions the phone is ok, takes a while to get the hang of it but once you have its ace. Quote
Dropzone Posted July 20, 2016 Author Posted July 20, 2016 I think it will be ok with one big screen and other members with phones??? Quote

SweetWilliam Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago I am new to the xr18 and am having trouble with monitor volume control. I have viewed a number of vids and do not have the screen needed to click on "utility" icon and there I am stopped. Surely it's an easy fix...., what am I missing? Quote

Windows PC, Mac, iPad, Android tablet? Quote

I am not sure I have ever pressed or noticed a utility icon Quote
Ben of the Bang Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago Ignore the Behringer haters, that’s an outdated viewpoint. I’ve been using XR18’s for all 8 of the function bands I run, doing 40-80 gigs a year for coming up to 10 years. They are great pieces of kit and Behringer make great hardware now at this level. Never had any issues. The X32 is now not far off the price point of an X18 since the Wing was released if you feel you’ll ever need more channels. Easy to multitrack record gigs, everyone can run their own IEM. Just buy your own external router. Quote

If you use Mixing station app, (which you should) then you can get band members to log in with only their bus send permission. So no changing FOH settings by accident. Quote
