Surely high perceived volume, while at low db is the way to go? Or maybe I missed the point and the principal. But then the whole article is telling you about the idea, but not the science. Phil Starr Posted September 24, 2015 Share Posted September 24, 2015 Well there's no physics there at all and the claims aren't that big, twice the volume is probably 3dB. Twice the energy but only just noticeably louder. My guess is that this is just multiband compression, he talks about mastering techniques in the studio applied to clubs. The peaks in bass output are being reduced and the average levels raised.
