Nut is 38mm on my bitsa. Apart from that, can't tell you - never played a Fender.

I used to own a Fender Geddy Lee and TBH the fit and finish on my J & D is just as good. Favorite amongst owner appears to be upgrades (i have put some otter pickups on mine). All that said the play well straight out of the box, neck pocket and finish is excellent, Any add ons are a bonus IMHO. At this sort of price it should torch any thoughts of cheap Sq's or similar. They really are good.

I've just fitted a J&D neck to a Squier body and it fits but there is a slight difference in the curved part at the heal.

There is no neck dive with these basses. The neck feels very similar to a Fender Jazz (although not as slim as a Geddy Lee obviously!).

I own five "Jazz" basses including a Mayones Jabba, CIJ Geddy Lee and a MIJ Standard. My band are recording in the studio this weekend and I am using my J & D. I think that speaks volumes about the quality of these basses :)
