MTD usa 635-24 Buckeye Burl *SOLD*
£2600

Recommended Posts

SOLD
trade value £2500 for a 4 string Wal mk1.

Maple neck, rosewood fingerboard (35 inch scale) , Ash body and Buckeye burl top. Bartolini pickups and active circuit which is as standard. Buzz Feiten Tuning system.
The bass plays as well as you would expect with a low fast action setup. Weighs only 4.2kg
The last six digits read 102402, the date it was made? 2002. Which figures because I have owned it for 10 years and bought it used from "The Bass Gallery" in London. I remember the shop owners said it was 2 or 3 years old when I bought it so perhaps 12 years old in total. It's the later 24 fret model anyway.

She is in very good condition with no marks, scuffs, dings and minimal fret ware.
I was in two minds whether to part with such a special instrument made by this master craftsman. I absolutely love the tone of this bass but have decided to sell because I have very little use for a six string these days.

Comes with MTD soft/ hard case (see photo)
Michael Tobias selects wood combinations to suit his customers tone requirements. Rather than trying to describe the tone, below is a link to some audio clips Ive made to demonstrate some of the tones in context with a variety of styles. I recorded these clips DI in to my computer - no preamp/ EQ etc just the bass. I tend to "dig in" when I play but I tried to play with a variety of feels so you get a general impression of how she sounds.
I welcome any questions. I am based in Macclesfield, East Cheshire (UK) if you want to come and have a look.
Overseas buyers are welcome but I expect you pay the costs of both shipping and insurance.

Aw rats! The link still works for me on a couple of computers, i don't know whats going on there?
Here's a couple more examples from a different source.
Here are some recordings I did about 3-4 years ago with my fusion band Acoustric although they are a bit rough round the edges and the mix is crap - But hopefully these links work for you if the soundcloud ones don't.

I played this in The Gallery all those years ago. I thought I recognised it. It is beyond lush!

Perhaps you should have bought it at the time, well here's your second chance now!

Only kidding! thanks for the complement on the bass tho, you're right it really is very Lush! I've had ten years at trying/ struggling to get my hands round six strings and the only reason ive held on to it for so long its because it sounds and looks so good.
So its finally time to sell it on to someone that can do something with it.
