What are you listening to right now?

The first band I was in, about 86-88, - Drastic Action - the BL was obsessed by Dire Steaits although he thought he was Guitar George... do we did several Dire Straits covers with no lead guitar!

 

Testament to how good the songs are of themselves. As well as Sultans we did Six Blade Knife, wild west end and Down to the Waterline.

Is that the actual set list for a gig Neil ? 

The rockier songs at the start are the ones i would normally finish a set. 

Some nice songs in there and a few that i wasn't expecting like Psycho Killer

Two sets plus songs for encores/spare I think. I remember learning all of them although it was rare the have more than a badly recorded tape! We used to take turns having the Dire Straits song book.

According to the article I was reading this track "changed music and a generation"

It's OK, but it completely passed me by in 1989 and when it (eventually) finishes will probably never trouble my listening ears again. 

 Maybe I was just five years too old?

Sure i heard this or something very like it in the late 60's / early 70's psychedelic / jazz fusion era.

Nothing new here for me but have to admit i do like it.

I guess for a generation it was different from the usual rubbish in the charts at the time.

Yesterday on the balcony before we went out we had:

 

- Kick The Kangaroo poppy tunes from an album I found on eMusic years ago 

 

then some Electric Boys. 
 

Later on after wifey got quickly bored at the Neon party and we went back to the room I sat on the balcony, watched the stars and listened to Lifesigns - Altitude on headphones with a nightcap. I rather think that people walking past thought I’d been banished for forgetting to get a card or some such 🤣

The Real Thing by Faith No More. 

I haven't listened to it in years and forgot just what a masterpiece it is. One of the all time great rock record, id put it up there with Led Zeppelins best. 

Billy Gould deserves more recognition as a great bassist.
