BassBod Posted November 27, 2013 Share Posted November 27, 2013 That's the best reason to get one - not for gigging. Look for Sigma, budget versions of Martin or used ones that were pricey new. The depth of the body makes a big difference to the acoustic tone, deeper is better unless you plan to plug it in very often (then it works against you by increasing the feedback problems you get). They are often fitted with bronze round wound strings, which are loud but harsh. Flat wound or plastic covered strings sound much nicer, but are quieter. Mog Posted November 28, 2013 Share Posted November 28, 2013 Just a quick heads up regarding the neighbours. When I'm practicing on my acoustic it can be clearly heard in the rooms downstairs. Try and get a model that doesn't have a jumbo body. Should stop the sound from travelling too far. Having said all that if the flat has good sound insulation between floors then iqnore my post.
