I don't think it would be advisable for me to post a pic of my second favourite pastime...
[/quote]

Why not? What's wrong with a picture of you sitting at your keyboard posting on Basschat :P

:D Thank you! I honestly feel naked without them. playing without them feels very strange now. I can't actually play happily with bare hands, I have a fully developed glove fetish.

Goog god! You look SO different to how I imagined you! Good shot too.

Is that a good or a bad thing? I'm not sure I want to ask what you were expecting. ;) Yeah it's a good pic, Chris Seddon is a great photographer. He does most of our photos, here's a promo one by him:

I'm on the left of course.

Chris, that last pic is a little scary if I'm honest, you look like it suits you a little too well. haha

The gloves, the gloves! Do you remember a '70's kids TV show where there were puppet spiders animated by people with black gloves (finger bobs?). You could do a whole bass/spider puppet show type thing.

Nice pants

Difference is you went out and got a beautiful Aria for the job, and I spent 2 years thinking about getting one, and never did :(

You're right I did buy that bass for the gig, it's an 81 SB700 into which I have since bunged an east u-retro pre-amp (was a bit of a tight squeeze as the SB700s are passive basses so have quite small control cavities) - it's a great bass, plays lovely, looks the part, and (with the u-retro installed) has the sounds to match!

I am v. jealous... always wanted one of them but could never justify getting a 5th bass.

Honestly Dave (less the cost of the u-retro) the bass cost me less than £300, for that money (and there are others around for similar outlay), they are seriously good bargains (thru neck, fantastic build quality, highly comfortable, even came with a hard case!) - get yourself one! (you won't regret it & even if you do you'll be able to move it on without taking a hit)

If I had £300 and could part with any of my current crop of 4 to make space in the cave of instruments, then I wouldn't even hesitate, but my self-imposed rules are self-imposed rules. Unless I'm going to use it a lot, i can't have one. And I'm only playing fretless with my new band, I have 2 fretted basses sitting in cases doing nothing already.

Tempting though...
