Clarky Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 (edited) Books need to be balanced after I have bought a 1974/5 Jazz. I have two fretless Fender Precisions and thats a bit OTT. This is a gorgeous example and the most valuable of the two I own. Neck dates to December 1970 and pots to 1971. Unusually has lollipop tuners. Beautifully roadworn sunburst finish, to-die-for tort scratchplate and a lovely rosewood fretless board. I got it from walbassist (Gareth) last year and - much as I love it - I don't have any use for it other than as gorgeous home bass. I did a trade that valued it at close to £2k and would be looking for close to this, ie, £1900 ono. Here's Gareth's FS thread: http://basschat.co.u..._1#entry1898441 Based in London. As always prefer hand-over in person but will post (if I can track down a big enough box) Edited July 2, 2013 by Clarky

Rick's Fine '52 Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 (edited) Good call on the '63 Clarky, you won't regret it! Have a bump on me for a lovely fretless P. Edited May 6, 2013 by Rick's Fine '52
lozbass Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 This is absolutely stunning - I've had too many failed stabs at fretless for this to have any realistic interest, however, a beautiful instrument (with some extremely desirable features) at a great price
Clarky Posted May 6, 2013 Author Posted May 6, 2013 Thanks Loz and Rick! I think I have probably made the right decision on keeping the 63. The fretless is IMHO my best looking bass but it's just not getting used as I gig double bass or acoustic fretless
wateroftyne Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 Fretless Ps make a beautiful noise. Good luck with the sale!
Clarky Posted May 6, 2013 Author Posted May 6, 2013 Thanks wot, they do indeed sound lovely! Here is the sound of a fretless Precision in the inimitable hands of Percy Jones - solo starts at 2:50 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b_p1sfrLEQs and here's some other bloke, playing a similar bass to mine http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WybHgScFi5w
Clarky Posted May 6, 2013 Author Posted May 6, 2013 and here's me playing a fretless 70s Precision (albeit not the one I am selling) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uDq6580mPaQ
Clarky Posted May 7, 2013 Author Posted May 7, 2013 THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE A SITE FOR BASS ENTHUSIASTS, EXPENSIVE BASSES, CHEAP BASSES, WHATEVER , ALL I CAN SEE IS GUYS LOOKING AT PICS AND MAKING COMMENTS ONE WAY OR ANOTHER, ITS A WASTE OF TIM ADVERTISING ON HERE AS FAR AS I CAN SEE. Bassman Steve Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 Well if Tim doesn't mind, what's the harm? I guess it's a show of solidarity.
Clarky Posted May 8, 2013 Author Posted May 8, 2013 Wateroftyne has one already! He's the 'other bloke' in the second youtube clip
Clarky Posted May 11, 2013 Author Posted May 11, 2013 Saturday bump! Can post and would take near offer
Clarky Posted May 12, 2013 Author Posted May 12, 2013 Tumbleweed bump!
Beedster Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 Oh I wish, such a great bass......... What's your other fretless Precision Clarky?
Clarky Posted May 12, 2013 Author Posted May 12, 2013 Hey Chris, one of these (in answer to your question)
martthebass Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 Really nice Clarky....wish I could be more than a tyre kicker but it would be a waste of TIM me putting anything up for sale to get the cash together because nothing ever sells on here...
Beedster Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013
Hey Chris, one of these (in answer to your question)
No offence mate, but keep the '71
Clarky Posted May 12, 2013 Author Posted May 12, 2013 (edited) None taken Chris! The 71 is infinitely better looking but the band want an "acoustic looking" fretless on those odd occasions when I'm not playing DB. Plus the 71 is worth a lot more and the cash would be nice This summer its my daughter's 18th, my son's 21st (and I hit the big 5-0 and am off for posh weekend away with Mrs C; all three events within the space of two months. Ouch) Edited May 12, 2013 by Clarky
Beedster Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 Congrats on all three mate, looking at you I can't believe your kids can be that old? Sounds like you have a great summer ahead, enjoy it Chris
