First - my 2 band Ray (couple of years old)

...and this lovely, extremely versatile Sterling. It has a Nordstrand pup.

...a lovely back...

...and a matcking headstock..

Sorry I had to split the thread, it wouldn't let me post it all in one lump.

Al, I know some folk round these parts take the biscuit about the amount of basses you have owned, but I think its healthy. Im glad you finally have two basses you are happy with, and at the end of the day, thats main thing.

Let us know when you are venturing Daaahn Saaaahhf next mate, we need to go for a beer and catch up!

I may aswell reply in here, Pt3!!!
I couldnt put all mine in one post so I replied to my own thread to extend it!! :)

Fantastic basses, mate I just wish I got to see the JO5's before they went.

But the 2 you have now are stunning, that Nordstand in the Sterling is a bit hot!!!

IM thinking of doing an amp one next lol!!

And what happened to the MM Jazz

Ha, wicked, every one of them except the Status of course, I didn't like to tell you at the time in Colne when me and Dr Dave had a look at it, but I thought it sucked too, I'm not a fan.

Top quality basses one and all, and I've played quite a few of them. I wish I still had the Marcus, I miss that a lot.

The current MMs look fantastic, and I know how awesome that Nordstrand sounds. Wouldn't mind a go on your ray to see how it compares to mine.

Hello mate - glad your back. I'll give you a bell and me & Mike'll shoot up for a beer and a bassy night in your conservatory.

Hi Paul,

I bought the bass 'as is' off Greene King after trying it at the Bash - perhaps he can tell you about the pup's origins - I suspect it may have come from the States. The Nordstrand is a beast alright giving the Sterling a much higher output than the Ray and the range of tones is immense. Definitely a worthy upgrade IMHO.

At least you know what you like now Alan...... you've had a productive couple of years

Anyone who has taken the Michael has done it either in a friendly manner or they're jealous :)

You've been able to try each bass out, in a gigging situation, rather than have it sitting at home for 6 moths before you realise it just doesn't work for you.

I'd love to post up all the basses I've had over the years - but I can't remember

A remarkable collection. For me the last two are the ones i'd like to grab off you :) I'm just starting out on bass with my *coughs* Fender Squire P-Bass. Been playing 1 year come beginning of September. Who knows, I might end up running rings around my bank account and have major GAS attack like yourself one day.
you certainly know how to take great photos of basses!
+ 1.

You can be sure it´s really porn with Alan´s photos.

Good thing Rays are so prohibitively expensive (to me, anyway) or else I´d have another GAS attack.

P. S. Alan - don´t you ever wish you still had a P?

You had some stunningly nice examples, and I for one am addicted to them...

I would like another P sometime - a beater with some TI flats on would be my thing. For the moment though, these two float my boat and d'ya know what I think they will for some time to come - here's hoping.

Thanks for all the positive comments fellas and a special thanks to Muppet for the 'Ray and Greene King for the Sterling.

I even like the look of basses I don't really like when Alan photographs them??

Two beautiful looking MM's to finish of with amongst a really great collection..Over how long a period is it that you've acquired/sold those basses? A mate of mine works for the Guiness Book of Records - I'll think I'll get in touch with him if you keep on going!

I fancy a sterling, too - they are very easy on the eye! Great collection homer - I don't know why it wouldn't let you do everything as one post - if you like I can probably join them all together.

Chers matey, keep it real up in Preston! I will be up there soon I hope for more studio time.

Hey Homer - do you have a voice inside your head, that sounds like Obi-Wan Kenobi saying, "These aren't the basses you're looking for - move them on." ?

Search your feelings you know it to be true. Nooooo! Nooooo!
