Anyone noticed the sale prices on MarkBass in BassGear sale?

Ok, so I'm a little biased as I sometimes help Phil at BassGear when he's really busy but I've just seen how far he's reduced prices on his MarkBass stock so thought I'd stick a note up here :)

Some of his new prices (with full manufacturer's warranty) are around the price I've seen some used ones go for in the past!

Brand new Randy Jackson head for £699 plus the matching cab at £599.

Jeff Berlin combo for £799.

CMD 1x12 combo at £699.

MoMark SD800 at £656.

4x10 cab at £699.

I have to say that the RJ head at £699 is pretty tempting and the MoMark SD paired with the 4x10 ought to sound pretty cool :)

ahh i see, sale section: http://www.bassgear.co.uk/2012/04/update-spring-sale-for-pre-owned-clearance-stock/

Little misleading when clicking on products gives full price though?

I think it's a 'proper' sale for a fixed period and finishes on Saturday (as opposed to one of those dealers who always have a sale on).

That's probably why the route to the sale prices is only through he direct link.

I'd actually seen the prices via an email link an hadn't checked the main site :(

Bloody hell. Looks like someone has hijacked Gareth's account.......second hand indeed, pull the other one ;-)

Hhaha! I know! I decided I was being too picky about buying amps brand new. The pics show it to be mint, and hes a chap off here. Big saving from new...so may as well try it out. If I dont get on with it ill sell it on for the same price or less. :)

In the link above it states that they are ex demo, so i can see how they arent priced the same as clicking on the gear on the main pages.

I would expect to pay less for ex demo anyway but they are good prices i guess.

I'm in the shop right now :)

Basically what Phil describes as 'ex-demo' are simply his display stock. E.G. They sit on the showroom floor, don't get moved, don't get played at anything above 'shop' volumes and are all immaculate (certainly the MarkBass gear as I've just checked them all over!).

The only thing that marks them as being as 'ex-demo' is that they aren't in their boxes still - although Phil does have all of these.

Pretty sure most retailers out there would class something that's simply on the shop floor as being 'brand new' :)

I've tried a few of the amp/cab options and the Randy Jackson setup is nice. My personal favourite was the MoMark SD800 into the 4x10. Never tried a MoMark head before but it's seriously nice. Loads of 'heft' through the 4x10.

Phil also has a used 2x10 in stock and the MoMark into 6x10's sounded just great!

No question they are in good condition but i know many people (myself included) who would not pay the full advertised price for something that has been used and sitting around on a shop floor.

Ive never tried a MoMark either, it looks like an interesting option.

What is going on with Markbass at the moment? I've heard the F1/500 is being discontinued?! From what I hear, its probably their best sounding amp, along with the LM2/3 and the new RJ.

Very odd.

I've tried emailing their new distributor for info, but got nothing back.

I like the MoMark concept but I doubt I need to swap modules...ever.

Would like to try the new RJ amp and cab. That 1x15 is meant to be very very good.

The F1/F500 are now in the Discontinued section of the Markbass website so i guess they are going.
As good as the MoMark idea is i really cant see anything that would make me give up my F1, and nothing as small as the F1/F500, which it think is their unique selling point.
Maybe a MiniMark is in the pipeline :-)

I don't think any of us would have issue with our fave bass shops selling of stock cheap, so they can feed the kids at the end of the week, In these times the only way these shops can move some of this high end gear is mark it as ex display and slash some pounds off. It avoids awkward questions with their suppliers over RRP. Win Win. I would do the same. Nothing wrong with the gear.

Just tried the MoMark again into a 4x10, sounds really nice :)

I don't really understand why you wouldn't buy something that's on a showroom floor?

As far as most small specialist shops are concerned that means you wouldn't want to pay the asking price for anything they have in stock as all stock is out on show for people to try before they buy. In fact this is a real maxim at BassGear they don't advertise a stack of stuff for sale that you can't come into the shop to try out. This is so important with high end gear like Fodera, Ritter, Alleva Coppolo etc. I've seen other people list high end brands as being available but they refuse to actually stock them and offer a 'special order' service only.

I think the only things at BassGear that are 'duplicate' stock are some stock Aguilar Tone Hammer heads. Every single other item they have is on display :)

I would, what i said was that i and some others would expect a (small) discount if its been on the shop floor rather than pay full price.
