4 Strings Posted April 15, 2012 Share Posted April 15, 2012 Like most things, you pays your money, you takes your choice. £5 a set sounds worth a hit but I would imagine benefitting from the testing for sounds playability and experience of products from someone like Rotosound is worth paying for, if you can find/appreciate the difference. You may find that not a lot are what you would use then you'd have to sell them on. Like most metal things from the far east the regulations are rarely adhered to and the content of lead and other undesirable things can be astonishingly high. I have a circuit board here that's marked as lead-free and CE compliant and I know for a fact that at least one of the chips on it has never been manufactured lead-free. Must admit It'd never ocurred to me that the reason guitards and bassists were all mad was because of the heavy metals (as opposed to Heavy Metals) in the strings...bit like the Mad Hatter and his mercury poisoning... I guess any reputable company who is officially importing into the UK will have to comply by the regs. So perhaps if the company does not have a UK distributor address I'd give them a swerve!
