wombatboter
I rarely start a topic around here but this is just so amazing that I couldn't help posting this..(hopefully this hasn't been posted before) Many have praised Paul Turner but again this floors me.. When the bass comes in around 3'30" ...how good can you be ? Killer tone, great phrases and sometimes I hear echoes of Bernard Edwards and Rocco Prestia in his style. Turner is just one of the finest bassplayers around.. chardbass
You know what I love about him is that he's not one of these inaccessible players where it's just jaw-on-the-floor chops and technique. It's when you come to play this style of music you realise just how good he is- he's got such a full arsenal of taste at his disposal. Def absorbed the players you mention and more prob but Bernard Edwards big time.
kevin_lindsay
I just sent the link of this page to Paul. I think he'll be pleased to hear such nice comments regarding hid playing & tone.
jakenewmanbass
fab sound, great groove... what more do you need in a bass player...
risingson
He's a really great bass player and a very nice guy to boot. One of my old lecturers introduced us a few years back and he was really open to some of my most likely silly questions about music and gear and stuff. deepbass5
That's sweet Less is more again, letting the funk breathe. Great live sound. thanks for the post. Edited December 25, 2011 by deepbass5
molan
I've become quite friendly with Paul since being introduced via Nick Wells (Paul lives about 15-20 mins away from me). I think he's a fabulous player and a super nice guy. I've seen him playing, techically complex, Bernard Edwards lines whilst chatting away and showing me how Edwards used his thumb nail for some of those percussive sounds he got. He's a dab hand at Jamerson as well
Jean-Luc Pickguard
Tasty bass playing, but I'm unable watch the video for more than a few seconds without being irritated by that tit with the mic prancing about in his daft hat. patch006
To my ears this is how a bass should sound , like a bass! Class player!
Soliloquy
I knew him to say hello to years ago, he used to hang out in the old Birmingham Bass Centre. A band I played in used to support a band he played for regularly, and I played for them when he left. He was a monster play then, that was 20 years or more ago. derrenleepoole
A great player with great timing I know Jay Kay's latest offerings have been a bit 'so what' of late, but you can't deny he does a great live show. These performances are killing
kevcooke
Saw Paul Turner play with Jamiroquai at the Jazz Cafe last year. Truly inspirational... I'd love to be able to find out who else he's playing with and see him live more often.

Stag
Saw Paul at a clinic in Great Yarmouth, would you believe it.... With Derrick and the guitarist whose name escapes me. Really great guys, all of them... Question and answer session with instruments, very cool!

M-N-Y
What a monster player. You can't deny that Zender was great but this guy is my favourite of the Jamiroquai bassists. He has such an amazing groove and bounce to his playing, coupled with a wonderful tone. Magic!!
