[/quote] Unfortunately, it will be a while yet - a couple of months probably...as it will take a month at least just for the nitro cellulose lacquer to dry properly. And I'm waiting for some custom electrics for the stack knobs to come from the US. You can't rush a job like this - it's got to be done properly! Much, much more than he got for the complete bass... And that was a possible option for me until I had it confirmed that both the neck & body were 1960 originals. [/quote] When I was first planning what to do with the 'orange beast' I had considered a J Retro... But once I'd found out that the body was also 1960 like the neck I decided to go for a full restoration - so I've now sourced 250/250k pots (the 62 reissue stack knob kit is good for the knobs & control plate - but has has 250/500k pots which aren't authentic for a 60 bass) - & even got wax/paper capacitors & carbon comp resistors to the original spec from this amazing guy on eBay who hand builds vintage components. A set of original stack knobs did appear on eBay - & sold for $2,500! I just wasn't prepared to pay that much - when the pots would probably have been shagged anyway. All that is holding things up is the lack of just the right type of nitrocellulose lacquer (there's no point cutting corners now after all the effort that's gone into restoring this correctly) - the importer is waiting for it to be shipped by sea from the US (they can't ship flammables by air). Unless anyone here has any Behlen 'Master' Nitrocellulose Stringed Instrument Lacquer going spare??? That 'might' finally be here in 2 weeks (been waiting for months) - then there will be a month wait for the lacquer to dry...!! Yep. It's torture....
