A lovely addition to your collection there @wright/watt

Sorry if this doesn’t adhere to the ‘pornography’ subject of this thread, but while we are on the topic of strings, does anyone have a recommendation for a series IV passion? I’ve recently restrung with some DR hi-beams and the tone is good but not quite what I was after…a tad too aggressive.

Thanks @CookPassBabtridge Wrong person to ask as I use Rotosound swing bass RS66LB 35-90 on my Vigier Passion basses..so they will be mega  aggressive really! Even though shandy lightweight in gauge, but suits my light touch..I think Elixirs as @thodrik and @Hellzero says..Certainly will last a lot longer, and in previous experience of owning once, not so harsh👍😃

I use Elixir Nickels on the Arpege IV. Good all round string and last for ages (tough to source now with general shortages). Other than that my go-to string is D'addario. I had a set of Hi-Beams once and just found them too bright.

Thanks, interesting you found the hi-beams too bright too. I guess I should have guessed that from their name 🤦‍♂️ I thought they’d be bright but not quite to the extreme!

Cheers, I’ll give the Elixirs a go based on both suggestions. I used them on other basses years ago but switched to Jim Dunlops. I can’t quite remember why. Possibly because I’m a cheapskate, but my Vigier deserves the best 😬

@wright/watt oof, that delta metal Arpege is tasty!

My corner of Vigiers is looking not too shabby lately either.

My go to is still the Glover Signature Excess. it just does something special for me.

If i ever come across a delta metal Excess, it's definitely game over for my purse...

NBD - Excess Roger Glover in the new Marianne Antoinette Blue.

Well worth the 6 month wait through BD (thanks Will). Very modern sounding with a very adaptable Eq. Usual amazing Vigier build quality. May well turn out to be a Swiss Army Bass for all occasions.

One happy Basschatter! 😊

Also love that blue. With the maple that’s a very nice looking combo indeed!

Got this out today, as I had the time to play properly for a couple of hours. Sorry, its filthy now 🙄

Think I've finally got to grips with the EQ- use it to accentuate/de-emphasize the harmonic content using the 3 position switch (? +12dB / flat / -12dB) to get the sound to sit where you want it in the mix. Use the volume control to compensate for any gain/loss in the output, and if there's any shortfall in the low-end, use the AMP EQ to reinforce it a bit. Live (hopefully) the man behind the desk will do the same..

It's only taken 2 decades!
