Besides the oddness of his basses in general, which is quite well known, why would you make the reserve the same as the BIN? and then tell people? Who's going to bother bidding?

If I could make my living making slightly poo basses I would. The fact that people always bid on every one I've seen is sort of a reason, course, if they BIN I won't see.
The holes are precision aligned to improve resonance in the fundamentals of those strings in the body wood. I think he learned it off Fender.

everything I have seen of these is just utter c**p. Why oh why do people buy this garbage? Maybe it's his demo on you tube.
Ever played one? Or are basses about looking awesome?

I think it's gorgeous. Wish I had a couple of hundred spare, although with the Fed dropping interest rates to 2%, the dollar should be worth about 20p in the near future so it'll be cheaper to buy a couple of those and an Ashbory...

Absolutely not. I can assure you (see my sig) that I am by no means obsessed with what my basses LOOK like. They are tools to do a job.

The point is that poor attention to simple details is not a good indication of the overall build quality. If the person building a bass can't even draw a straight line, or stick two pieces of wood together properly ....? :)

Steve Wishnevsky can be seen playing one of his basses here, which I am sure has been posted on BC before.

I have played one myself, & they do seem to well made. Plus, I do kind of like the ethos behind them.
Wouldn't suit my style personally, there again I'm not a fretless fan anyway. If I want to go down that route, I'll get a doublebass.

Though you must admit they are a bit of a weird looking, bonkers shape Oli :)

Words can't justify the hideousness of it..

After over 875 basses sold world wide, we wish to make the following claim. "These are without a doubt the best sounding basses on this planet. And they are about 10% of the price of Boutique Basses." The way we can do this is to sell direct, and put on a minimal finish. If you can dig it, we can supply you a great sounding bass, real reasonable..If finish is more important to you than sound, there are plenty of companies to supply you.

finishes bump up the prices another $1000?

Since I've just bid on this, does anyone have any idea what it is? A tenor guitar?

Bass Player mag did a feature ages ago on short scale basses- one was a short-lived run of basses by National (IIRC) which was basically guitar bodies and necks with 4 bass strings on them- 25in scale. this looks similar.
watch out for extremely slack string tension!
