jay249
This bass, as you can see is in excellent condition, it's recently had a £150 spent on it for a new nut and refret by Bristol luthier Tom Waghorn, it's been done to an incredible standard with historically accurate parts, and was well worth it as it played like a dog before - it's perfect now, action is apparently below average for a Fender now. Other than that, as far as I can tell it's all original. I don't have an original case or ashtrays for it I'm afraid so it would have to be picked up from me. Just under 8 1/2 lbs. Have updated to show neck plate, I was told it was 73/4 when I bought it but neck plate and neck stamp are '72, wahey. gary mac
Lovely. But 13 - 15 lbs might be worth getting it weighed properly, as I'm sure that would put buyers off even though it looks so good. Good luck with the sale though and apologies if you think I'm an interfeering git.
Rick's Fine '52
I think I'm going to regret this, but I never seem to get on with precisions. I understand the current financial climate isn't amazing but I'd prefer not to lose money on this one, it was £1500 and i've spent 150 on it, do the math(s), it is most certainly worth it. I also must point out that it weighs between 6 and 7kg on my crappy Ikea scales, I wouldn't imagine you could do much better than this for a 70's Precision. You can try trades out on me but please bear in mind it'd take a Fender Jazz '73 or before to wake me up if you've got a nice 60's or early 70's custom colour jazz I've got some cash I can give you. Be warned, shiny 6 string exotica doesn't do much for me apart from I like the pretty wood sometimes, I can't handle them so please don't offer me one! Sibob
Looks that way, shouldn't the pickguard have holes too for the ashtray? Its wonderful condition though
I can see holes in the pickguard. Although not sure I can see the holes carried through to the body??...having said that, they do tend to 'move' on older fenders, so wouldn't surprise me if the holes didn't align completely anymore. Tis lovely indeed! Si
jay249
Bargain?! I mean't £3000 Thanks for the replies, for all the haters out there I have some photos (only kidding). Thanks also for the weight pointers, the picture is the closest I can get I make it a shade under 8 1/2 lbs but you can make your own minds up -like I said, crappy Ikea bathroom scales, sorry. It really is quite light, much moreso than my '73 jazz bass. I just took straplocks off because I've been gigging it, the originals are safely filed away, I'll put them back on for the buyer. The "tugbar" - sounds like a seedy establishment put that way doesn't it? is missing but the holes are there, I don't miss it. there are indeed all the appropriate holes for the ashtrays as well, very hard to get a good picture but I can assure you they're there. Please refer also to my gear porn thread for tasty stuff. Edited June 7, 2011 by jay249

jay249
Bump to add that I took the scratchplate off for the first time the other day and the volume pot appears to be newer than the tone pot. Also looking at documentation for the work I had done on it, the metal nut that holds the tone pot on has been replaced.
