...Just signed up, look like a great site, with some useful sections.

I'm from the UK, and have been playing for 25 years, although if you heard me, you'd probably think I'd been playing for 25 minutes!!!

My big passion is Vintage Fenders, my current collection consists of;

1952 Fender Precision, 100% stock, Blonde, blackguard, a real beauty
1952 Fender Precision, Blonde Nitro refin, otherwise stock, scarce in the UK.
1955 Fender Precision, 2-Tone refin, otherwise all there.
1956 Fender Precision, 100% stock, 2-Tone Sunburst, like Stings, real nice
1958 Fender Precision, 100% stock, 3-Tone sunburst, maple neck, anodised guard, lots of original '58 case candy.
1958 Fender Precision, Custom Shop relic, all certs and candy
1956 Fender Precision, Custom Shop relic, all certs and candy
1961 Fender Jazz, Stack Knob, Relic, 3 tone sunbusrt
1958 Fender Precision, self built/assembled Relic, exact replica of my real '58
1982 Fender Jazz, JV, 1st series, JV00 number, Large Fender, small Squire decal, super rare
1982 Fender Precision, JV, 1st series, JV0 number, Large Fender, small Squire decal, super rare, twin brother of the one above.
2000 Takamine Electro-Acostic, Korean thing, but plays nicely
1980..ish Rickenbacker 4005, pollocked, just like Mani's from the Stone Roses, even has MANI painted on the flightcase

1959 Fender Tweed Bassman, 4x10 Nice, tweed is nice faded amber.
2010 Fender Acoustasonic pro, 160W 2x10 combo, with built-in effects
1971 Vox escort Bass Combo, solid state, looks like old AC30, chicken foot knobs and that, not the best sound, but looks cool.

i have a few others that i forget, will add when i remember

Looking forward to spending some time on here, looks to have a good variety of gear/topics etc.

Regards

Rick.

Seeing things on Basschat often surprises me, but I think this is the very first time I can truthfully say that I've been STUNNED. (BTW Young People, that's the old spelling of Gobsmacked).

An original '58 is my ultimate dream (that old Y.O.B. thang).

Fantastic collection you have there. Where have you been all this time ...and can I get one of my sons to marry one of your daughters?

Thanks for the compliments on my collection, my first proper vintage bass i sought was also a '58, the gold anodized guard, with the 3-tone and maple neck, is one of the most beautiful things Leo made, no doubt, thats what got me hooked, having got that, i wanted a '56, then a '52, it's very addictive though!!
Welcome aboard, I see you love your pre CBS fenders
Ahh...you noticed. :)

To be honest, they are the only basses for me, i've tried allsorts, and whilst i've had cravings, and impulse purchases, they never really compare to a 60 year old block of Leo's finest.

I've now made myself a pledge to never buy anything on impulse again, always sleep on it, unless it's a fender, in which case, be quick, and snap it up, as they rarely come around.

Thanks for the comment.

Welcome to the forum. If you've promised yourself not to buy anything else, then avoid the 'Basschat Marketplace'; it's like crack!

P.S. I have a Fender 1x15 cab going cheap in there :)
Thanks fella, appreciate the comment.

I was drawn to the marketplace, and so far have avoided temptation, i know what you mean though!!
Howdy! I play slabs also. Reissues only, though! Still a great bass by any standards, and a tribute to the rightness of Leo's thinking!
Howdy to you telebass.

they are very cool basses, no doubt, rare example of someone getting it right first time around, which when you consider there was no benchmark, no comparable, completely new concept, and they are still making the exact same basses today, its quite incredible.
