1. Crank that up to 10 and it would probably blow me over! Loud as f*** rig bump
2.
1. I'm not playing any bloody gigs for no money, that's taking the piss that is. 2. I'm setting up a charity gig, you guys don't mind playing for nothing and lending your gear as the backline for the day and being first to arrive and last to leave. Do you? 3. I bloody hate landlords. They're a useless bloody bunch of tossers. Liars the lot of 'em. 4. The landlord of the Dog & Duck has promised us a gig. Well that's what the barmaid said. Well, she actually said she'd tell him I'd dropped in. 5. You guys don't mind if I get there just before we start, do you? You don't need me for setting-up, right? 6. Why the f*** am I over here. You KNOW I always like to be just there. Well can't you move your bass rig? No, the drums only have to move a couple of feet. 7. Jesus, you make me sick. You're always whinging about your kit, and you bring far too much anyway. 8. Erm ... guys ... erm ... I forgot to bring my amp. Can you help? 9. I reckon this band can really go places, y'know, cos we're all really committed. 10. When was that gig booked for at the Kebab & Calculator? Oh. Look guys, I've booked a week ski-ing ... ***************************** In case you were wondering, each pair of comments was made by the same guy (none are invented or even exaggerated - I didn't need to). In case you were wondering, he's a lead guitarist. Who thinks he can sing. In case you were wondering, we sacked him three weeks ago.
This is freakishly close to some of the stuff the singer used to say in my last band!
3. Singer: I think we murdered that song tonight (struggles to sing in key of the song and blames everyone else except himself - temp too fast, temp too slow, bass too loud, dont like the lyrics, too much drumming, not enough reverb on my vocals, not enough reverb in the monitor.....) Me (in my head): Who's we? Your not playing an instrument, you did not write the tune, you did not write the lyrics, you are not involved in this song in any way shape or form, except to murder it with your depressingly flat vocals.
4.
krth, I saw a price for the cab - did I miss one for the head, or has it already gone via Ebay? Looking to replace my Hartke 300W head. Also: Batley! My old stomping ground. Ah, the Frontier...
No head is still available. It is on ebay but listing ends in 4 days and would rather not sell it through ebay if possible. Looking around the £120 mark for the head but open to any offers
5.
what trades would you consider for the cab?
For the cab I would be interested in trades for other cabs, 2x10 etc especially. Only getting rid of the 4x10 because i left my band and dont need a 4x10 at the moment

8.
Hey man, I live in Horbury which is dead close to where your at, I'm dead interested in the gear and was wondering if I'd be able to come try it out sometime? Is it £250 for both ? Cheers Jack
HI Jack, yea £250 for both, although the head is now on ebay, but has a week to go so I can take the listing off sale if it goes before then. You are welcome to come and try it this week if you want, im off work all week so have plenty of free time, pm me if your interested.
9.
Got a Warwick Profet 5.1 that i can trade if thats of any interest to you? Liam
Hi Liam. That's not something I'm looking for but thanks anyway
10. still for sale. will put it up on ebay in the next few days if it doesnt create any further interest on here. Open to offers, trades, will sell items separately. Send me your offers!
11. Here are the pics, apologies for the delay: http://imageshack.us/g/853/pict0053g.jpg/
12. These are fantastic amps. Look the part too
13. Hello all, I'm parting ways with my tried and trusted bass rig now i've left my band. This has served me well and has graced many a large stage with ease - such as the 'world famous' Batley Frontier Club So what i'm selling is: Ashdown Mag 300 the evo 1 model. Its the rack mounted version and has been put into a flightcase where it has stayed ever since (flight case included in sale of course!) I also have the original booklet with it. Ashdown Mag 410T deep, 4×10 450W cab - again this is the earlier version with the carpet covering. Carpet has seen better days, but there are no rips or tears. Has been fitted with castors. Why am I selling? Always been a fan of Ashdown amps, but with gigging every week and rehearsing i've just never had the chance to try something new out. I've played maybe 20 gigs with this rig and used it at rehearsals maybe a dozen times and not once has it let me down. Sad to see her go, but its time to move on! Price Not sure what the older Ashdown stuff goes for, so how does £250 sound? I would be happy to split the cab and head. I'm also open to any trades part ex's etc. Not got my eye on anything in particular so just let me know. I'm located in Batley WF17, near Leeds for pickup or to come and have a go. I may be able to send the head out via courier if needs be, but i'm not sure how i'd go about sending the cab out! I'll get some pics up asap! Anything i've missed? Any questions? Fire away! Edit: I've just noticed a small tear in the side of the cab, iv taken a picture of it which you can see in the imageshack album below.
14. Just after a quick valuation. I'm looking to get rid of my cab, cannot remember what I paid for it, and no idea how much its worth. Ashdown Mag 4x10 (extra deep). Carpet covering. Has been gigged a fair few times, but looked after. Carpet is worn, but has not been abused. Same with metal grill on the front. What do you reckon? £100? More less? thanks for the help
15. i think they are a good idea. Some of the songs I used to play in my were fast and my technique isnt the best so it helped give me a smoother sound - but didnt completely flatten it. I use a Boss CS-3, works for me.
16.
So Elites are a Bass Centre product made by GHS. Cool, thanks everyone. So I wonder if the GHS strings are any different to the Elites in anyway.
I doubt they would be that different. Mass produced on the same machine most likely. I've never tried GHS strings though, but do play with Elites. I prefere them over ernie's and rotosounds.
17.
why did you leave? tell us more, then we can advise
There were a lot of issues I had with certain members of the band - I posted about it on here a while ago - and whilst I tried to put these behind me after last Thursdays gig it just wasnt possible. And then I got a really sh*tty text yesterday which pretty much killed it for me. Last Thursday we had a gig in the centre of Leeds (at Milos if anyone is familiar?) Anyway our booking agent said load in time was 7pm. I explained me and one of the guitarists may be slightly late as we didnt finish work till 6 pm, by the time we get home, showered, loaded up with the gear and set of its 6:40pm for a 20-25 min drive depending on traffic. We got there for around 7:10pm. Drummer, singer, and guitarist all finish work at 5-5:30 so had a lot more time than us to get there. Just as we pulled to the end of my road the singer and guitarist drive past us waving...so they have set off late...why? We pull up to the venue - me already pissed off - and they pull up a few seconds behind us! Drummer was already there well on his way to setting up. For me that royally took the piss. I work 12 hour shifts, so i'd been up at 5am, finished at 6pm. Straight home, quick shower, change, grab my gear, no time for a bite to eat. and off I went. Anyway this has happened on a number of occasions and the signer is well known for being late to everything, but after the speech he gave us the other week "we need to live and breathe" this band I couldnt put up with the hypocracy anymore, and to add salt he sent me some sh*tty texts - nothing to do with the band - and I just couldnt see me sharing a stag with him anymore. I had already planned to leave at the end of July and the rest of the band knew it and I would honour the gigs we had booked, but we've gigged with a bad atmosphere on stage before and i just felt like walking off half way through. I didnt want to experience that again. Anyway, rant over! There are a couple of local jam nights. I'm quite lucky as there's a few decent pubs that put jam nights on, open mic nights, so im going to show my face at a few of those and see what happens. Ii'll be looking for another band, but I may leave it a month or two...now iv got the time and freedom I might try out a few different amps and what not, see if I can find my tone
18. Wednesdays/Thursdays would be when we would normally rehearse for 2 or 3 hours so putting all your ideas together I should be able to come up with a decent lesson plan for myself. Dont feel as lost now, cheers guys
19. Just had to call it a day with my band - even though we had gigs lined up - one this friday as well. Things came to a head earlier and nothing that could be reconciled in time for friday (on my part anyway) So what now? I'm a little lost I think maybe now is the time to knuckle down and learn a little more theory. There wasnt much room to think outside of the box in the band so iv become a little lazy theory wise. But where to start?
20. What amp are you using? I use a sansamp gt2 for that myself...altho i dont think anyone else notices the difference...
21. My tone is whatever fits in with the rest of the band. I've got a sound I like to dial in at home, but live it just doesnt cut it.
22. thats far too many basses for one man, so as a welcome gift i'll help you out and take the 1961 Fender Jazz, Stack Knob, Relic, 3 tone sunburst off your hands
23. im just scouting around for a bass player for the band Little Vegas Lies based in Dewsbury. West Yorkshire. I will be leaving the band in 1-2 months time because of work commitments and they require a hard working and dedicated bass player to join to team. They rehearse and gig weekly, and have just completed the recording of their first EP - A Truth Not Far Away - which you can stream here for a listen: http://soundcloud.com/krth1985 Official Website; www.littlevegaslies.com Facebook: www.facebook.com/littlevegaslies This is just a feeler I am putting out, so if anyone is interested or has any questions please get in contact with me on here and I can pass your details along and the band will contact you if necessary. ps - must have all your own equipment and be able to get said equipment to gigs! thanks kris
24. Most of the songs I play I only need the E and A string. But its easier to go down the fretboard than across it, for me anyway. All of my bands material is in standard tuning, I have no need for anything lower than the open E. But its just easier. I picked up my 4 string yesterday, and it felt like i was playing a pencil. The neck felt so thin it was abnormal. I've only been on a five string for a couple of month as well. Cant see myself ever going back to a four.
