5. I'm selling my Electro Harmonix Knockout. Its not needed in my rig anymore, so it might as well go to a good home. Comes with box, and discs. "The Knockout is a powerful two-filter combination that can make your Les Paul sound like a Strat and your Strat sound like a Tele. Its secret...the Knockout has a 7 pole filter for sculpting the low end of your mids and a 6 pole filter to shape the top end of the mids. This provides incredible tone shaping. Use after distortion to bring out the heavy weight punch of the metal masters. The Knockout is also truly amazing on Bass." The pedal can be seen here with a couple of demo vids http://www.ehx.com/products/knockout £30 with postage, im open to offers. Prefere bank transfer, but will accept paypal, and cheques.

 7.
Well Leeds is full of good venues and decent promoters. A good one is Carpe Diem as it's free entry and right in the centre of town. Get in touch with a promotion group called Under the Radar or Andrei for the At The Crossroads night. Both on alternate Saturdays. No pay but always a decent size crowd and the customary free beer. Onstage sound can be a tad hit or miss but overall a nice place to deal with. And they put on all sorts. Cockpit's a good venue and is mostly sorted through Andy at Futuresound Promotions. They generally require you to sell tickets but it's one of the better venues. Brudenell Social Club is by far the best venue IMHO but getting a gig there can be tricky. Great place to play. they get alot of relatively 'successful' touring bands but its small and has a MASSIVE local community. There's a bunch of other decent venues aswell but it would take an age to list them all with their promoters etc: Milo's - city centre. Don't really put on metal but they love blues, indie, hip hop and punk Smokestack - city centre. Funk, soul, hip hop, experimental HiFi - city centre. Funk, soul, jazz, hip hop These and the usual university rooms and O2 academy (unfortunately i wouldn't know;(). One last thing is a clubnight at The Library venue just outside town in Hyde Park. The night's called 360 and it's run by a chap called Richard Watson. He's the best promoter in Leeds and does loads for 'unsigned' local bands but he may well help out of town bands/artists too. He puts on loads of different styles but they generally sit well together.
If your on facebook check out http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=571656709 - He puts nights on at various venues around Leeds, including Milos. LeedsMusicForum.com is a good place to look up Leeds based promoters/bands
 8. I'm stuck, and getting annoyed Three simple chords, Am, F, G, F....cant even deviate from the root and 5th - whats wrong with me
 9. I think these go for a few hundred dont they? it is a lovely looking bass
 10. I like to check out their rig, i dont really look to see how they are playing, or if they are 'better than me' or not. I've seen some beginner bass players who hammer away at the root note all night. So what, they are up there doing it.
 11. I am currently trying to get up to speed with One Day Remains by Alter Bridge - without a plec http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oZRjuxEteFQ
 12.
k d lang's version of "Hallelujah" by Leonard Cohen Find the River by REM Full of Grace by Sarah McLachlan I don't know if it has a name, but the piece of music by Greg Edmonson at the end of the Firefly episode "The Message" is just beautiful. In an interview he said that the crew all knew that the show was getting canned by that point, so he wrote the piece not only to fit the mood of the scene but as a goodbye to the whole show. Gets me every time.
Country Feedback is another REM one that gets my vote
 13. In Loving Memory by Alter Bridge deserves a mention. Especially the version below, live in Amsterdam. When the crown sings back and you can clearly see Tremonti holding back tears, always gives my goosebumps. In Loving Memory

 15.
For those of you who along with your band, provide your own PA, how do you approach it? Do you bring a sound guy along, or just set and go? Basically a band i've started with friends has gone quite well, we are doing our 4th gig in a few weeks, and its a 300 people corporate gig in a hotel function room in London Our usual guy who does our PA is not free on that night, and I am keen we have someone on the desk, we could just set and go, but this is a good stepping stone for the band and I don't want anything not covered Obviously we need to provide the best service for the client regardless and this is not a play in the corner pub gig So how do you guys approach this ?
Pretty much what every one else says....for us it comes down to the venue. 9/10 we just set up, sound check to a song or two and off we go. Although word of warning - the desk is usually within arms reach of the vocalist who after the first song thinks he needs to be slightly louder, after the second song slightly louder still, after the third song slightly louder, after the 4th....you get the idea
 16.
would love this bass...wallet tells me no though..
me too
