1. Second hand guitar shop in Leeds (if thats near you) - cant remember the name, near the Con Exchange - says he gets a few of the Squier VMJ's in often. He says they usually go for around £170 - worth every penny if you can stump up a little more cash

4.
i swear by tweed covered leads, mainly because they simply don't get tangled up and as a result i'm yet to have one fail on me (after using them for about 3 years) whereas i've had countless standard leads break after a few months of use. makes life alot easier when setting up for a gig too, no 5 mins wasted untangling cables.
Agree.....Fender Premium gets a thumbs up from me

Question gigs

I'm having a hard time getting this across to a few people in the band, so hopefully some of you will share my views. So as a band we have quite a lot of original material - we have 15 songs, plus another 4 that the lead guitarist is pushing for us to start going over. and another 6 or 7 songs that we do acoustically! all this from a band thats only been together 6 months. We also do a a few covers. 2 oasis, two stereophonics, neil young, radiohead, and snow patrol. and also an endless supply of acoustic covers Now my question is this: We do both the paid gigs, 2 45min sets and so on, and the shorter gigs at places that host proper live music where people go to watch live bands. Now it doesnt matter how good your songs are, 2 45 minutes sets of your own material is going to bore people. you need to throw covers in there right? But at what ratio? We usually do 6 covers out of 20 songs. Do we have too many songs? How many original songs do you guys have? Are pushing ourselves too much? We rehearse every week, is that necessary?
7.
Just a heads up to say you might struggle at that price. Check out the price at Stringbusters and GAK. 8. http://www.basscentre.com/elites-strings/e...dium-scale.html Bought these in error from basscentre.com - just noticed now when i took them out of my gig bag I also received a free tshirt with it. Its not the Bass Centre one as advertised (apparently they were out of stock), but an Eden one. Very basic, black with a little Eden logo, size Medium which will be thrown in - otherwise thrown out! £18 inc postage.
9. My band has the same problem. I don't see why we should add songs that aren't up to scratch when we don't need to. No word of a lie the main writer in our band has a new song every week - sometimes 2. We go through them and like you said a few run throughs later they sound ok. My argument is though - yes we can play the song, but everyones concentrating so hard that it just sounds wooden and flat. There's no feeling to it, no bounce. I mean whats the rush really?
10. need it - can anyone lend me a few hundred???????

14. Anyone use these pedals for bass? Both the guitarists in the band have just bought some lovely Blackstar amps, sound amazing. Anyone familiar with their pedals?

Dakota

Stereophonics cover, recorded at band practice. Again using a hand held recorder. 2 guitars mic'd up through PA, bass and drums au natural. EQ'd slighty on PC afterwards, not bad really. We record most things like this now, and then we can have a listen back later on. Video sync'd with music http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=waOFWe4Q5VM&NR=1
17. Acoustic version of our song, My Ghost Town. Recorded with one of those hand held things pointed towards the middle of the room - easy as that. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ufelRlaZ6SU...feature=related
18. Very nice indeed...I could probably scrape together your asking price, but it would be near impossible for me to collect living so far away, and the postage on top would be a bit of a struggle this week
19. i;d snap this up right now, but i live no where near London
