lojo
Just re reading the OP, it seems, although Im not sure, that the question is what goes down well in a pub Well, there are tons of tracks listed above that do, but i honestly believe that as far as most pub gigs go, if the band are fairly good and lively, then a good crowd will enjoy most things, most punters are out for a good time, its the handful of arms folded geezers who you need to impress with song choice, and usually the more glum they look, the more they are enjoying it

We're a pretty young band (15-17) with a young audience which probably contributes to that though. Some other songs i find go down well with our crowd are Nickelback covers, we used to do How You Remind Me and Another Hole in The Head, along with really fun and upbeat things such as the Ghostbusters Theme Tune. JTUK
Far more interesting than 99% of the stuff pub bands play. Well done. You might have to work harder but at least you will not bore anyone.. Too easily.
Bassmonkey
We try and play crowd pleasers (indie type anthems) and without doubt, the most impact is when we play the following in order of popularity: 500 Miles - YES I KNOW - hate it but it goes down a storm Common People Sex on fire (see 500 Miles for response) Mr Brightside - if we could play this 20 times in a row the dancefloor would remain full - works a treat Andy
LiamPodmore
SInce that set i posted above we've added some more that really go down a treat, not many as we've been doing mostly shorter sets of originals instead of a few hour run at a pub gig: Call Me Maybe - Carly Rae Jepson Tik Tok - Ke$ha (Our acoustic version is on youtube) Beautiful Girls - Sean Kingston and we've been working on Party in the USA by Miley Cyrus (sp?) police squad
great thread. I'm glad most bands are still playing the same stuff as it does make it a little easier to find slightly different stuff. I'm a massive 80s / 90s hair rock fan and as such borrow heavily on the cheesey stuff all the so called 'musos' are too up themselves to play!! That's not an insult, BTW, I used to be like it myself. our set includes stuff like Nothing but a good time & Every Rose by Poison Wonderful world, Joey Ramone Delilha (a mix of Tom and SAHB) let there be rock AC/DC I believe in a thing called love Wanted dead or alive Bon Jovi Centrefold, J Geils Place your hands, Reef Hey Jealousy by the Gin Blossoms Old before I die, Robbie Williams Ballroom Blitz, Sweet Maggie May Helter Skelter, Beatles Dead Ringer, Meatloaf nothing really challenging but I love it when I see the whole pub singing along to Every Rose (thansk to Bill and Ted for that )

Paul S
Pretty well all our set lists have already been put up. One of my bands does 'You've Lost That Loving Feeling' based on a version by Hall and Oates. Starts off slow, everyone sings along or dances, then it takes everyone by surprise when it suddenly rocks along a bit. Really goes down well and is nice to play. Heres the Hall and Oates one.
