I just have short arms... goes well with my deep pockets to avoid getting rounds in
In fact, I find the SSII to be a tad longer than the Thumb, still comfortable though.
I can't stand Warwick Thumbs. I dislike them so much I think this is my 8th In all seriousness I love how they look and sound but I wouldn't gig one because of the first fret position being in another time zone from the body
You must be alot smaller than me then John The neck was never a problem on mine, just the fact it was a BO.
EVERY month! Do you leave them plugged in permanently? I realise that the LEDs may well eat batteries but surely the preamps don't. I give my basses a new 9volter each Xmas and I've never had one die on me. However, I can appreciate that for peace of mind; as often as you can afford makes sense.
Well the King-Bass is the worst, it needs new everything, strings, batteries, a clean, and it's gobbles the batteries in about a month, 3 if I'm not using it too much. Nah it's just that I prefer to change them straight away when I can tell their starting to die, and I play alot so it usually is about a month or 2 before the new ones go in.
And...doing my bit for the GB fanbase, here's my trusty Daphne blue GBIV from 1999. She goes everywhere with me (gig-wise, of course...)
Is that the one Mark King used for the Ohne Filter show or is it just built to the exact same specs??

Time to move this beast on, it really does sound amazing, clear highs and growly mids, warm and a good bass presence as well. The cab is well maintained and works flawlessly, very nearly no scuff marks at all, besides on the handles where the logo has been worn a bit (shown in the pics). Pics: It is 8 ohms, but for further info head here: Eden.... Right price wise I'm looking at £350 - £400, if your travelling from a great distance I will pay for the petrol either before or after. Or ideally I'd be after a straight trade for a EBS Proline 2x10. Thanks guys, Josh. Edit: Also will happily include a flight case, though I don't have the lid, it still protects it
Awesome, well you and I are probably going to end up competing for the next one that comes up in the classifieds I haven't found the 2x12 Neo boomy with the Genz Benz head, but I did have to tame the bass a little with the Trace. However that could have well been because of the sheer weight of the head facilitated better acoustic coupling between the cab and hollow stages. Generally I have best results when I'm standing at least 3m from the cab and its right up against a wall.
Ahhh you get first dibs, I've promised myself that I need to at least buy 1 or 2 things from new, as every bass or amp I've ever owned has been secondhand or thirdhand, so I'll get my 2x10's from either GB Basses or maybe The Gallery. And having had a pelasent chat with Lee earlier, he mentioned these Auralex ISO pads to help me define my sound when on a wooden stage or where te acoustics seriously affect my tone , I think I may invest in one when I buy the cabs
Back spasms I can identify with, it was getting to the point where after a Saturday gig, I'd get on the bus to go into work on the Monday morning and my lower back would be so painful it would bring tears to my eyes. FWIW the only thing I'd mention about my experience of 2x10's is that they probably need to be standing on each other to get the most warmth out of them and (with normal cones) the bottom end wasn't that well defined below 120Hz or so. The two 4 ohm Acmes I had were the best 2x10s I've ever had but they needed a big ol' amp to power them properly.
The plan is simply to have 2 2x10's used as a 4x10 but will save the hasstle of moving a complete 4x10 around, and I can use one 2x10 as a stand alone for a small enough gig if need be, and I've had a good play through a EBS Neo 2x10 with a TD650 and it had everything I needed to keep my happy through a gig, so 2 of them would compliment each other very well, I found the 2x12 a bit boomy though but with the 2x10 sounded just right.
lol, it used to be like that matey: Eden WT800 and effects unit plus two 2x10 a Trace MP-11, Mesa Boogie Strategy 400 power amp plus effects unit and a pair of 2x10 cabs then Twin GK RB700 combos then one GK RB700 combo plus GK 2x10RBH cab... ...my back soon had something to say about all that. Its a good rig though, growly, tight, clean and warm. Wouldn't mind an EBS 2x10 though or a wedge cab version.
I'm definetly going for 2 EBS 2x10's, I just can't make my mind up wether to go Neo or Proline, the Eden's just need to go, they sound amazing with the 650 but I can't see the need for an 8x10 behemoth anymore, I'm only 19 and my back is healthy, but I live in the attic, up 2 flights of stairs......I get back spazms thinking about it
Here's mine. Overwhelming isn't it?
For some reason Steve I always thought your amp was something alot more complicated and was housed in a sperate room? Please say you've got that rig weighted down though

For me, the definitive tone of Warwicks is perfectly portrayed by both the Thumb NT and Streamer Stage II, the others come close but IMO lack in certain areas of the ideal Warwick tone, for instance, a SS 1 will have a beautiful slap sound yet if you want it to really growl, you may find yourself champing at the bit and just constantly floating through bareable tones until you eventually bite the bullet and sell it on, and thats from my own personal experience with one. And also a Thumb BO will growl, but it wont have the aggressiveness of a Thumb NT, which is really what makes it sing. I'm with you guys on a SSII being crunchy, and the Thumb being more darker and smoother, they really compliment each other, in every way, and to have both of them in a collection is a privelledge

MODERATORS: HEADS UP!!! TOO MANY SELLERS IN TWO MINDS!!
Josh replied to Apothem's topic in General Discussion
Seem's a bit un-just to put a price on the freedom to list an item, even if the seller is not 100% sure but isn't 100% happy with the item at the moment. Alot of guys have found it a sobering process in which they actually find that what their selling is exactly what they want and that a brief GAS spike has sparked a little un-certainty, and now you want to put a price on that? Your either a flawless robot or just plain intolerable. -
It's the same for me, as many know, I can't get enough of Gospel Musicians, obviously bassists are the main ones I pay attention to but also the drummers are equally as talented and just as entertaining to listen to, as are the organists and singers, there is just so much in the music to take in and appreciate. I'm really not one for the lyrical content (Incidentally, I've just recieved my copy of The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins!), but I can appreciate the feeling and atmosphere thats going on and really get a feel for the music. Gospel bassists are also the reason I bought my 535 as well, they just all have a tone which sits so firmly in the mix and demands attention regardless. White Gospel or Religious music is just horribly tedious in every way and will never come close to black Gospel music anytime soon. A little vid for inspiration:

Sir Duke, only the sodding pentatonic run, 8 out of every 10 times I get it right

Am I the only one who thinks the head stock design is pretty ugly?

I've seen quite a few clips of Hadrien jamming with other guys, in particular Marcus Miller, and well Marcus was holding a tight groove (Whats new ) and Hadrien soloing over the top and then trying to hold a groove as well, to me it was just messy and ruined the feel of the groove Marcus was holidng. And the same for me, with all the hype he's got I can't honestly see the fuss beyond fast fusion licks and Matt Garrisons technique, with respect to the guy though.
