  1. Big thumbs up for the bighead. I think there’s a new version with better battery life too.
  2. pickup height and balance can make a huge difference
  3. I’ve never played a piezo PU before but for some reason I always presumed they would be tinny in sound rather than deep. I’m never going to sell my P but that’s an interesting option on the fretless.
  4. You definitely still need a p bass with a fretless. It’s like the antidote for when you need something other than mwah.
  5. Let me know how you get on, I love the roto’s.
  6. Buy a fretless neck for the gig and then swap it back after?
  7. Hang on, is the argument that they aren’t being innovative or that you think they’ve made a bad business decision? 😂 you can’t tell from a photo what the bass will sound or feel like, yet you’ve decided it’s not worthy to the market. Now that is nonsense.
  8. I imagine for one thing that these basses won't be using Fender parts and won't be manufactured by Fender, so there's straight away going to be some differences, even if it is only QC that will be enough for some people to buy an Ashdown over a Fender when played side by side. Do you really believe Squiers are that good? I've currently got a passive Overwater and Squier. If I was to sell one it'd be the Squier. Also I don't see how Moollon is not a Fender clone but this is? Please elaborate.
  9. You could say the same about Moollon. Have you tried any of these? the Ashdown bass might be an improvement on US fenders. Dan Lakin has been in the business long enough to know what sells and what doesn’t. I think I’ll leave it up to him.
  10. Well this thread hasn’t helped my SG gas one bit
  11. Love markbass products so I’ve tried the nickel for my fretless jazz
  12. Why would they want to? There’s a reason Fender style basses are popular - they sound good, Balance well, are easy to setup and easy to manufacture at a low cost.
  13. My old thumb 5 was 9v
  14. I’m in team black p/g. I think there needs to be a vote 😁
  15. The answer is - whatever p bass Pino is playing.
  16. Looks a bit like the one ricks fine 52 put together and sold on here.
  17. I think I’m one of those restaurants that has all the gear, spends Thousands on ingredients to create a menu no one understands, looks like it knows what it’s doing, but never lives up to the hype 😂
  18. I’ve gone into the experiment bass preset and seen I’ve had access to the pedals and amps all along, d’oh. This is going to be a day of octave I think 😁
  19. Does anyone know of any bass effect plugins that can be used on GarageBand? I particularly want chorus and octave. Not used plugins on GarageBand before so not sure whether they can be used like logic?
  20. Having looked again I think you’re right.
  21. Looks like a status eclipse to me
  22. You can’t really go wrong with a passive P because they’re so basic. My favourite that I’ve owned is a mexican fender that I swapped the pickups to Lindy fralin. With flats it’s now up there with any post ‘70 fender.
  23. They’re bartolinis. Could be an original fender body with and then everything else is parts as that decal is fake. The bottom of the neck might be stamped
  24. Why not look at the m7 or v7/9/10 if you find the Sire comfortable? I really notice the difference between 18-19 mm spacing and 34”-35” scale lengths, and went through quite a few fivers before realising I need 18mm and 34” to be comfortable.
