  1. In: Some strings Out: 2020 strings Expecting the same for 2022
  2. My only issue with Bass direct is that they have a constant flow of lovely instruments and if you happen to try one of those instruments and don’t go through with the sale for whatever reason, you spend a lot of time you should be practicing wishing you had bought said instrument. It’s a torturous hell.
  3. Great story
  4. I did apply to be an on hold composer for a company in Manchester. Don’t know what the requirements are because I didn’t get a response.
  5. Where do you find all these basses? That’s the best looking Toby Pro I’ve ever seen. Never tried one because I didn’t like the name.
  6. I was thinking more about off the shelf pickups.
  7. Obviously it’s hard to put into words and subjective, but I would define it as very warm and honky evenly across the neck. It’s a sound I’ve heard from Fender Ps and Js from the 60s and 70s period that disappeared in the 80s versions and from there on. I don’t hear the same sound from other manufacturers of that era either.
  8. Possibly something that has been done in a previous bass bash? I’ve yet to play a vintage fender with replacement pickups. I suspect no one would do it, but it’d be interesting to hear the same vintage Fender first with original pickups and then with repro pickups. Would its sound maintain the vintage characteristics?
  9. 100% yes. I’m yet to hear a modern bass that recreates the tone well enough and I’ve tried.
  10. My lottery win bass fund will be so substantial that I will need to also budget for a separate house to store them. Is that too many?
  11. When you start forgetting what you own. Someone on here found an Alembic Stanley Clarke while clearing out their wardrobe.
  12. Cannot wait until I finally get my mitts on a KS. This one’s particularly good looking
  13. I assume my OBBM cables will never fail. It’s been 8-9 years so far without fault.
  14. My third bass was a Fender P bass and I still have it. Ten or so basses have come and gone since but this P has stuck. It doesn’t cover everything but if I was gigging it’s all I’d use.
  15. I played a Dokata Red CS jazz once that was loverly. It felt superb but wasn’t quite the true 60s tone of an original
  16. There’s several sites mentioned in this thread. Wunjo currently have a ‘75 P bass in stock just under £3k.
  17. Is it not just a US deluxe with LEDs?
  18. For those that want a British bass with fiery tone, the Anaconda basses are starting to get to me. The clips I’ve heard of the essence range sound incredible.
  19. Is it ACG that uses filters instead of EQ or is that Alpher? That will give you something very different to the Overwater.
  20. Record it at home on a fretted and then practice with the fretless over the top. Practice until it’s bang on every time.
  21. I’d love to see this in Purple metallic flake with matching headstock!
  22. You’ve sure had some great basses. I love the look of the Atelier Z you’re currently selling, looks really classy in black.
  23. Managed to get tickets this morning for the Saturday gig in London. Wanted to see RCHP live since I was 13. Ridiculous price though but seems to be the going rate nowadays
  24. If you’re a lefty I’ll take it 😂
  25. I made the leap last year. I have small hands and find the strat much easier than others to play due to the shallow neck. It’s taking a while to get used to a completely different technique but is actually fun to be a beginner again.
