  1. If I wanted a workhorse 5 string active bass, I wouldn’t be looking much further than a sadowsky metro line - the Japanese ones. They’re light, well balanced and sit in the mix perfectly. For noodling at home I’d probably wait for an Overwater in budget.
  2. I assume it decapitated itself
  3. Is it this one 😂 https://reverb.com/uk/item/86377042-custom-made-viking-axe-bass-guitar-free-shipping-hard-case
  4. Is it that rare? I wouldn’t want to be on the end of those import duties! Regarding the pickup, I think your previous plan of an upgrade is fine. You don’t need that level of hassle from Epiphone.
  5. Pubs tend to stick to solo musicians around me
  6. Well they describe the condition as “god” so if he’s played it, it might be okay.
  7. Bagpipes require an arrest warrant
  8. IMO this is fine. It’s replacing a broken part, and as you say it’s near impossible for like for like so why not get the best alternative.
  9. Hope you get back on your feet soon
  10. Great new bass but I would be furious at being let down for a bass after spending that on flights! Hope it wasn’t a basschatter!
  11. If you’re matching drinks, a glass of champagne and a shot of black jaegermeister would complete the look
  12. From what I remember they were used in the 60s to earn double fee on sessions. Is that what you’re doing? If not I think you can save yourself the torture 😆
  13. I got my P bass at 16. It’s the only one of two basses that have stuck around.
  14. I know, sorry I remembered it as pet academy’s thread!
  15. There was a list of funk tracks created by a former BC member. Worth searching for as it is a very long list!
  16. The worry is, if they had two bodies and two necks creating one fantastic bass and one dog, which one is it….
  17. The old double basses certainly are!
  18. What if you already have a bag but you’re buying a new one because it has extra pockets, a fancy lining or it’s a leather harvest gig bag! I think that should count as a fail, but then again I think the same should apply for straps. Maybe there needs to be a god tier?
  19. Blimey some of you were learning tricky stuff to start! Mine was smoke on the water Deep Purple, as played by most teenagers in music stores 😂
  20. Sadly didn’t get to meet Nick, but I recognise him and his many basses either from here or bass magazine. It’s clear from the outpouring on here and FB that he was at the heart of the big bass community in the UK. Thoughts go out to those closest to him.
  21. Since we’re sharing snaps! Passive bass of doom-esq J4
  22. I’ve not played an active custom shop but the relic stuff isn’t.
  23. When I bought mine it was only a couple hundred more than the Fender artist range! So I was always going to opt for something hand made to my spec in the UK! Plus you can guarantee it will sound great with an Overwater, unlike Fender, even custom shop!
