  1. He reminds me most of victor wooten. They both groove like they have all the time in the world. I’d love to get to such a level of effortlessness!
  2. I’ve not tried one but guess it’s like the Ampeg B15. Are they that functional? They complete the image though anlong side an old Fender bass and as a wannabee collector of sorts, that’s enough for me to want one.
  3. I wouldn’t go for a P bass 76 plus because they changed the neck shape and those I’ve tried have been very heavy. The jazz bass 76-78 is also heavy but has the classic MM sound. I do prefer the look of the tort to black.
  4. True, and just like the Blu de tiger debate he clearly has only got attention by being a good looking young girl…. I haven’t, thank you for this. My go to is the NPR tiny desk concerts, a fantastic source of new music and even some terrific performances by pop stars that are too often discredited for their genre.
  5. Snarky puppy’s notoriety came from YouTube, and as well as being one of my favourite bands, they’ve won Grammys. So the platform isn’t the issue, it’s how the creator users it.
  6. It’s a surprise to me the P bass prices have caught up as there was previously a discount compared to Jazz bass equivalents (more what I follow). There’s a 74 jazz at Andy Baxter for just £3.5k even if the case isn’t original. Of course condition is important to price and there have been some near minters come on the market this year.
  7. Is that a good price now for a P bass? I’ve not been following them very closely recently but feels a lot for a private seller to me. I definitely wouldn’t be risking that sort of money, especially if I couldn’t take it apart first.
  8. I’ve done a crude weigh on bathroom scales and I think it is roughly 4.5kg which is admittedly not that light for a 4 string bass, but is not too heavy for me either.
  9. I don’t think so, was just on a page for bass players. I think majority of Pre CBS tended to be “lightweight”
  10. Did someone say road worn? Spotted this on FB. ‘64 apparently
  11. I’ve not seen much mention of the godfather of electric bass but that’s session life for you
  12. I dunno, it looks all kind of wrong compared to what I’ve seen previously. pickups aside, this looks original to me: https://reverb.com/uk/item/71737142-classic-1983-fender-jazz-bass-3-bolt-with-ash-body-bound-maple-fretboard-sienna-burst-finish-made-in-the-usa-vintage-dimarzio-pu-s
  13. That was my diagnosis
  14. Are you only stopping pensioners on this street? 😁 Id say Paul McCartney is the one 50% would get. Other than that, no hope!
  15. And you know this how? It is sexist to suggest that a female has been successful because she is female and looks good as apposed to her skill.* Whether she looks good or not, is opinion. Do you think her audience is old men wishing they could sleep with her or people trying to learn something new and enjoy music? I hope and believe it is the latter. *obviously removing the women/ men who do literally sell themselves on looks.
  16. There is no evidence that this is the case and you’re diminishing her ability with a sexist opinion.
  17. I dunno, I think you’re doing great things:
  18. For anyone actually interested in learning more about Blu, this is a fairly good interview. She comes across that she knows how to play bass and looks have nothing to do with it.
  19. Basschat MM GAS is in full flow this week
  20. I prefer this now. Once picked up a bass in a train station but then found it had a broken truss rod. Seller didn’t care and had flipped the bass I used as part trade.
  21. I’m clearly not as lucky as you!
  22. When I got a Fender P bass that was a step up on the Epiphone and Jim Deacon I’d had before it. Then I was gifted a music man SR4 that was a real step up in value and build quality. Probably peaked when I had an Overwater J5 and a Warwick Thumb NT5. Both gone due to finances but hoping to one day add a vintage Fender and a Ken Smith 5 which for me are as good as it gets.
  23. One of the finest stingrays I’ve ever seen. I had a SR4 in this colour and it was incredibly pretty
  24. Aha beat me to it 😂
  25. I was wondering how these looked without a scratch plate as a I don’t like the one they use, and saw this on FB! Oooff! Finally the lower horn looks In proportion.
