1.
Ped and I are not keen on a rant sub forum. Ranty threads get out of hand too easily and, in the heat of emotion, are subject to poor judgement. Besides which, there are loads of websites that cater for ranting and if that isn't tempting, there is always the option of your own personal blog. Stick a link to your signature if you like. I did a quick review of defamation legislation this morning (my time - 6:15am), this is what common wisdom suggests about defamation and the internet: http://www.senseabou...d_and_Wales.pdf "The internet has irreversibly changed the way we access and publish information, but with parliament last modifying our libel laws in 1996 and our current definition of a publication dating from 1848, development of the libel laws has not kept up. It may be clear to us that an investigative report in a newspaper and anonymous comments on a blog are very different in nature, but under current libel laws, both are held to the same conditions. Website hosts and internet service providers are forced to assume editorial responsibilities in the same manner as traditional outlets such as newspapers and magazines. " So I hope you appreciate why defamation is a sensitive matter online. Having said that, there is a private members bill going through Parliament which will change the level of liability for website owners in respect of posts by third parties. http://services.parl...defamation.html
It wasnt meant to be taken seriously! Pmsl lolz..
2.
If I don't get a certain product (that I paid for fully on Dec 7th) before long, there will be another one of these threads
Why? What will it achieve? Mods - can we have a rant subforum?
3.
Mod hat off Oh, and don't whatever you do highlight and issue with a Musicman bass on the EBMM site, or Big Bopper, hopper, shopper or whatever his name is is on your case within a millisecond of you posting it. Mod hat on!
What's that you say?
4. Gareth deserves a Knighthood. Basschat hasn't been this exciting for years.
5.
Are you Basil Brush today or something?
I wish! But I wouldn't want somebody's hand up my butt!
6.
Can we please drop this please otherwise I'm going to end up locking this one as well.
Locked? The other one vanished.
7. Boom!
8.
Nope. An opinion is formed AFTER the consideration of facts. That the facts might be wrong does not cause the fact to become an opinion - just an error. That in turn causes errors in the resultant opinion. The words are not interchangeable in any way, when applied properly. For example - the crack in the case. Gaz said there was a crack. That is either accurate or it is not. Either way, it is not an opinion.
Oh, you mean a factoid.
9. That sounds pretty good to me. Nice to know that there are still some people out there doing a decent job. Must admit, when I had problems with one of my digital pedals, I gave up on it and sold it on eBay for peanuts - makes you wonder if there are people making a living buying up these pedals, getting them serviced and selling them on again... Hmm...
10.
There was a presentation of opinion.
Corrected
11. I'm hoping that <shop name removed> starts their own thread on the matter...
12. Libel/embarrassment - same difference.
13. Boom!
14. Of course you don't need a radius block for levelling - it just helps and gets the job done quicker. Use a radius block that matches the radius of your fretboard - I thought that would be common sense? A compound radius is a different kettle of fish - and a major headache. Your best bet is to send it to the plek machine because it makes no economic sense for a luthier to do it by hand. If you want to do it by hand, then you use different radiused blocks - starting at 12-14th fret. A fret rocker helps locate those high frets - but they will be pretty obvious if you string your instrument up with a low action. Why you'd want to have a compound radius on a bass makes no sense to me anyway. At the end of the day, there's different ways to do a job - best we agree to differ.
15. Just look at the T&Cs. Some threads that are requested to be pulled are, some aren't. Moderators choice I guess. Fair or not, not a non mod's choice.
16. I use a raidused block for fretlevelling like this one. http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Fretting_supplies/Leveling/Aluminum_Radius-sanding_Beam.html?actn=100101&xst=3&xsr=1884 I don't see what the problem is? Level the whole neck and then crown the frets. It may be the voice of experience but if the experience is wrong...?
17.
Eh? You level along the width of the neck rather than along its length????
Err... yeah, thats my thoughts also! No point in the exercise unless you are levelling along the length!
18. 2:51 and count the tuners... Stuart's best looking bass... Good shot at 3:06
19. The bass preset won't have any effect on the tuning speed - it setting the sweeteners, so your bass can be as much in tune with itself as possible.
20. Could be. Perhaps it's dual nationality!
21. black american walnut
22. You do know that it's a strobe tuner right...? The visuals that you see are not like a standard tuner...
23. Vid removed :-(
24. Cover postage and its yours. Been cleaning out and came across this. It's the stock white scratchplate. Useful incase anybody has mashed theirs up?
25. Couple of hours work? Man... you be slow!
