1. Thanks Bruce. Now if you want a run of the mill bassist to try any of the new gear out just fire them my way!!! Only kidding...it's nice to see reprasentation from the manufacturers visiting blogs like this.
2. Wonder how much it'll be. I am tempted....what would win, this or the MiBass?
3. Just received the email shot from TC with this. Looks interesting. Wonder how warm it sounds. I'd be interested in the amp even if it didn't have toneprint, as I prefer analogue effects and stompboxes. g
4. Thanks for all the feedback folks. Time to get practising. Road to Ruin first, though may take some time.
5.
Here it is
Hello Jackers...which software do I need to read your PDF, my PC doesn't seem to like it?!
6.
There's a few bits of him carving around concrete parks on PJ20
Yeh, saw that at the cinema. One of my favourite cinema moments.
7.
Here it is
You are a star. Thanks.
8.
Pearl Jam stuff is good to learn not too simple, not too complex.
Yeh, I dig PJ too. Jeff Ament rocks. I have already learned a few of their tracks, though less or the more recent stuff, so that could be an avenue. He's really good at skateboarding too! There's a great piece on Youtube of him helping build skateparks in poor areas of the USA for underprivileged towns to use. Supported by Vans shoes.
9.
Hey One of my suggestions would be Road to Ruin by Mr Big. It's very interesting to play, without being too strenuous on the right hand. I have a pdf of notation with tab if you need
Cool, didn't think of Mr Big. Love them too. Just assumed that Mr Sheehan would make it too difficult for everyone else to play! The PDF would be cool. Cheers, g
10.
Graceland had a huge influence on me (and still has). Still not too fond of what he's showing here to my surprise...seems so out of tune
That is one smelly looking bass guitar! Euch!
11. Stumbled across this when it was on. Inspirational. Not a huge Paul Simon fan, well, wasn't, am now!
12. Yoh! I want to get better at playing my instrument. I love playing songs with hooky riffs and get bored playing 8th notes all the time. My right hand speed is OK, not super fast though. So, what five songs would you all suggest I learn to play along with. Ideally I'd like to join a band but the timing isn't right as we have a sprog o the way. My musical taste is alt rock, rock influenced, from Pearl Jam to Collective Soul, to Led Zep to Band of Skulls to Alberta Cross, to Rush, Van Halen, Pete Yorn, Dave Matthews, etc... Over to you guys.....
13. A feelgood thread if ever there was one. Well done, and I am jealous. Baby on the way....wife says I don't have the time!
14. Hello, I have had really quick and responsive service from Roland who have confirmed there is a fault with the distortion pedal. So, off it goes in the post to be sorted under warranty. Must be a known fault with that pedal. Cheers, Garry
15. Hello again, I have now tried with batteries in both and plugged in and no luck. Only one patch lead between the pedals (I don' know how it would be possible to have two in there!). Think I'll give Boss a try. Will let you know how that goes. Cheerio.
16. Hello, Yes, the signal path is as described above. I've swapped over PSU's and they work fine. Once I get to pick my gear up I'll try the battery option, leaving the PSU's plugged in too. Bass is active G&L L2000. Setting the switch to active or passive made no difference. Cheers, g
17. Thanks ,I'll try that out, though don't understand why the powerpacks wouldn't provide enough potential to each unit to work. Was about to go get my stuff after last nights jam when my toilet decided to turn in to a geiser. Damn.
18. Hello, Have taken delivery of a second hand Boss BF-2B Flanger and already have a Boss ODB3 distortion pedal. So last night tried to use them together. Each pedal was powered individually and each works perfectly well on its own. However, when in series, using brand new patch cables, the second one in line fails to function. Wont even produce the red activated light. So, any similar experiences or ideas on how to sort this? Cheers, Garry
19. This looks like a good deal to me....if only I had money to spend! http://www.guitarguitar.co.uk/TC-Bass-Free-Cabs g
20. I have listened several times now and have come to like it more with every listen. Production seems a bit spaceless on the first two songs but then I think it opens up nicely. Second favourite album of the year so far....following A Different Kind of Truth.
21.
Just curious as to who every bodies main 'idols' would be. For me it was Les Claypool and Ryan Martinie. Just after a while of listening I decided "I want to be able to do that" So yeah, who inspires you!?
All my friends played guitar and I had big hands so got a bass for Christmas one year. I honestly sucked for the first 5 years, then got a new bass and didn't suck any more.......if only I had had a different first bass!
22. Hello. I have had my B2 for about 3 years now...I think. I love it for home practise and coming up with new ideas. Had a song with working title "CZero" named after the stock distortion effect under CZero (C0). Anyway, I thought it sounded briliant, and so did the guitarist....then I bought a Boss stompbox and that blows the Zoom out of the water. Then there's the Flange. It's good to mess about with, but the quality (tuneability or bigness of sound) is nowhere near a proper pedal, so I've bought a second hand box for that too. The Amp modelling and sheer variety of sounds available is amazing for the money, and having a few drum patches in there, as others have said, is great for practicing or even getting jams going. My biggest gripe is that when it is in bypass mode it doesn't appear to fully bypass, leaving a residual effect on the clean sound. Hope this helps...off to watch some Van Halen on Youtube....feel like I'm 15 again!
