1. Dave, it"s tough buying gear. It is a big outlay and you need to make sure you get it right. I am in central Scotland too, Bo'ness, and I agree, it is hard finding a decent range of gear to try. My best experience was Kenny's music in dunfermline, old sound control I think. The dude there, can't remember his name, encouraged me to try as much stuff as possible and spent oodles of time wth me. They had fender, markbass and ashdown and Ampeg. Guitar Guitar seem to have a very disapointing range of stock in store, especially Edinburgh. Glasgow now have a bass room I here. If you want a guitar or guitar amp they have it covered, just not with bass amps. Soundslive in Newcastle seem to have a good range, and carry GK stuff that you might be interested in. I was briefly thinking of a 700rb ii. It has it's own personality and cuts through well. Guessing the 1001 or 2001 is even more impressive. Wish we had a Bass Direct or similar a touch closer.

3.
For more or less the same money, a G&L Tribute beats any MIM Fender hands down anytime. https://www.glguitars.com/instruments/TributeSeries/basses/index.asp
I agree. Of the fender mim offerings I wanted to buy, all of them were insignificant compared to the L2000 I had no intention of buying but did buy.
4. Hello Dave, When I was trying heads out, one of the shops actually suggested I stay away from the Ampeg pf offerings as they had been returned with problems almost as much as they had been sold. Their cabs were a different story, mostly cracking quality and no issues. I had also tried an Ashdown abm 500 which I quite liked. Kenny's music in dunfermline had the 900 version in stock for a really cracking price. It had been used by Big Country for two recent gigs only then returned to the shop for sale. Think around £690 if remember correctly.
5.
Can anyone describe the difference in sound between these two, please? best, bert +1 on that. I need a 112 or maybe a 210, but these are in my budget to go with my streamliner. Cheers. G
6.
I've been using a single Ashdown Mi12 for all of my gigs since they came out and I'm really happy with it-it basically took over from my Bergantino HS410.
Hello. What head are you using with this? I am looking at 112's or 210's to go with my genz streamliner head. Will buy one now then another later down the line. Do you know if the mi12 is strong in the middle or does it have a scoop?
7. I am hoping my new class D / class A hybrid isn't let down by the class D bit, or the class A bit. Was playing along with some of my bands backing tracks earlier and my streamliner does a great job. Problem is, between all the knobs nd toggles on my G&L and those on the amp, I may take a while to find the right settings for the right songs. I was considering a gk mbfusion or a terror bass before settling on the genz, would either of those do you instead of the Hartle? I think thomann sell both.
8. Get your drummer to do a countdown....10.....9.......8.....
9. It is here and it sounds....well.......EPIC. Stuck the headphones on, plated around with some eqvsettings and am amazed at how expressive and sensitive it sounds. A great match up for my G+L L2000. Was playing along with Ben Harper and Relentless 7. I could aware I sat in the mix just like the main man. Just on headphones though. Further report to follow.
10. Just been messing around on my new amp with quality headphones and am astonished at how articulate it is compared to my old Ampeg combo. The harmonics are just amazing in comparison. With my G&L I was able to get a huge array of sounds, most good, some not so. So far, think it is an amazing piece of kit. Each note seemed to be expressed fully in ways I haven't thought of. Looking forward to next rehearsal. Any luck with your Hartke?
11. The power if positivity...as my dog trainer likes to say! This is why we buy from reputable shops and companies. I had a horendous eBay experience during a bass guitar buy a few years ago. Learned my lesson, went to a shop. Always do now. Hope you just get a straight swap for a new one.
12. Have done a little looking on the web and sounds like some poor folks have had issues with transformers in the kilo, those having to be replaced. I hope your fix is simpler. I'd try sending Larry hartke a message on talkbass, apparently he is quite good at getting back to individuals on that forum.
13. Is there anything decent coming through the di out?
14. Jeezo...sorry fir your massive disapointment. Is it possible you have a faulty cable or something else simple? Have you tried any if your other cabs, or maybe just one cab. Maybe the valve has become UN-seated. Would it be possible to open up and see? Watch the warranty though.
15. Yeh, let's hope your parcelforce dude and my parcelforce dude arrive in good time. I take it the Kilo in the name means your new amp has ONE THOUSAND watts!
16. SNAP! My new band is all good, fun, demanding, buffooning, time to learn, writing, recording, laid back...loving it
17. Ha, I just bought myself a streamliner 600 today, super excited. Why were you off loading yours? That Hartke looks the business too...
18. Will do Ratman....why you called Ratman? From what I hear, talking to users, reading and listening to reviews it's about as close as I will ever get to an all tube bohemoth in a small package. It's going to be fun dialling it in ans learning its repertoire.
19. Bought. Genz Benz Streamliner from BassDirect. The 600 as that should cover it. CAN'T WAIT. One arrived early from his next shipment and I managed to snap it up quickly. Prices have dropped too so I was stoked and the missus will have less to moan about. £499 for this seems like a steal considering it's capabilities, features, quality, etc.... Bring it on!
20. I hope it arrives very quickly Muzz. Having read the megathreads on talkbass it sounds like it's going to sit nicely in our band. Looking forward to tweeking. Need to source a cheap practice room cab next.
21. So, after much heeeing and hawing I have just bought a Genz Streamliner 600. Bought from Bass Direct and have to say, though Mark was busy (well, sounded busy anyway) he was helpful, chatty and polite. Hopefully it'll get here tomorrow....here's dreaming. Cracking price of £499 too, which makes my decision to hang on and not just plunge for a Terror Bass A while back a good one. Sooooooo Exxxcciiiited!
22. Ahhh, the little blue circle...excellent. thanks. This is definitely an easy reading site!
23. As I lie on the floor with my knackered back pi££ing me off I have been trawling basschat. Here's a recommended addition for the mobile website...add a button that takes you to the last page in the thread you are looking at. I was going to share my current listening adventures on the "what are you listening to now" thread but I would have had to press the next page button something like 75 times! Otherwise, great mobile site. Much better than talkbass.
24. Here is my new bands first new track https://soundcloud.com/sulasula-1/swansongs and it's second https://soundcloud.com/sulasula-1/missed-connections-wav Listen away, feedback welcome. This is a definite demo...I'll need to redo all the bass with an amp, this is all direct. Cheerio Garry
