1. Had mine for 6 months, no problems. Lovely, easy bass to play. Great sound.
 2. Yep, I am just recovering from the truly amazing Transatlantic gig in London on the 21st. Into DT,Marillion, Rush ,Neal Morse, Spocks Beard, Opeth etc.
 3.
Thought as much....no-one has learned it :0(
I have had a go at it, often play along with it but couldn't find any bass tab for it. So there are parts of it I am not sure I have right, but most of it is simple. Have a listen to the Foo Fighters version, very very good!
 4.
Did Rafferty do any songs other than Baker Street?
................some rather good ones................especially "nightowl"
 5. Clever Trevor, by Ian Dury and the Blockheads.
 6.
I can be a very violent player - no I don't whack old ladies over the head with my bass and steal their scone money - I have a tendency to whack the strings and stuff and I simply couldn't do that on a guitar I've tried picking up the guitar but cannot get past the fact that they feel so small and sound so screetchy, not to mention those tiny strings. In a band context, my experience is that after keyboard players, a good bass player is almost as hard to find. I could never have become as good as I am by jumping from instrument to instrument. A bass feels like home to me. It feels like the most natural thing in the world as I have now been playing over twice as long as I haven't ( I started when I was 11 and am now 34)
When I was younger and used to play thrash/punk with a pick, I used to play so violently on my "westone thunder 1" that I used to snap bass strings! (When I say "snap" what actually happened was, because I used the pick so hard and close to the bridge the strings would eventually just come apart, like uncoil ) This also probably had something to do with playing through crap amps, so trying to play harder and being skint, so never putting on new strings.
 7. My ear has always been drawn to the bass it seems! I think it probably has a lot to do with The Stranglers being the first band I really "got into" in the late seventies, JJ Burnel's bass lines being extremely prominent, particularly on the first 3 albums. I just always seem to listen out for the bass, no matter what style of music it is! (Maybe that's why I found "and justice for all" a poor album after "master of puppets")
 8.
Don't know how to play it but what a song! Been playing Staring At The Rude Boys for a while now and that's another good 'un IMO. Cheers, JTB
Both brilliant songs!
 9. Bought Dave's Fender Precision, transaction went really smoothly, great guy to deal with. The bass.......all I can say is WOW! worth every penny it's gorgeous! And in excellent condition, clearly been very well looked after. Thanks Dave!
 10.
Who is the most inspiration to you and the to guitar you play?? For Me it would Definately have to Be either John Entwhistle of The Who or Andy Fraser of Free
For me it's definately J.J Burnel from the Stranglers, with Geddy Lee close behind!
 11. Thanks again everyone, some very handy advice. I don't think having a "clean" sound would be a problem, one of the things I don't like about the behringer is that I can't seem to get the volume AND a clear sound, to be heard I seem to have to put up with a poorer tone.
 12. Thanks everyone for your advice! Appreciated!
 13. Hi all! I would appreciate some advice from those more experienced than me! I am currently playing in a rock covers band, we play a mixture of stuff from free/bad co./ deep purple type 70's rock through to more recent material from bands such as foo fighters /red hot chilli peppers along with some bluesy stuff a'la gary moore / dr.feelgood. I am currently using a behringer head and cab which I picked up cheap from the bands old bass player, however I am not that impressed with sound/tone available. I use a fender "geddy" jazz bass. We aren't gigging at the moment, but are looking to shortly. These will be your average pub/club gigs. If/when I upgrade my head/cab what would people recommend? I was looking at perhaps something like GK MB2 500 or Markbass little mark 3 for a head perhaps? Would it be better to get a new head first and use it through the behringer cab, then get another cab later, would this help the sound? Sorry but i really ain't clued up at all with amps, having not played live for a very long time. Willing to spend maybe £400 to 600 on head, not sure about cab, maybe £250 to 400. Thanks.

 15.
What it says above
Wow, thanks for that, wouldn't have known otherwise!
 16. I have learnt to play rhythm stick - but only at half the speed! No matter what I do when i speed it up it all goes pear shaped in the verses!
 17.
After a fairly disasterous practice session with a new band, where the guitarist was a mess (but of course 100% confident he was right), I got my Warlock out of it's bag for the first time in about six years this morning. Now I was never any good on the guitar. That's important. A quick glance at the tab sites revealed some tabs for the guitar parts of two of the songs in question. They also looked correct in so far as they match the record more or less. Plug guitar in, play. In time... in the right key. With the right number of bars in each section. Ain't that f**kin' difficult!!!! (Disclaimer to avoid sounding like an arrogant prick: 1) my bass playing and knowledge of music is limited, I know I'm not 'all that'. 2) you wouldn't have wanted to record my guitar playing and put it out on a CD, but hey....)
Interesting! The lead guitarist who has just left the band I am in always used to mess up at the end of the solo on "whisky in the jar". this always led to problems with the timing going into the next section of the song (I think it's because he missed a part off the end of the solo), anyway, just before he quit he said it was me going into the next part too early! We now have a new lead guitar player, and guess what - no problems with timing! Ha! Knew it wasn't me!!!
 18.
That seems to be the consensus of opinion. "MK is very talented but i dont listen to him." As for me, I'd preffer JJ burnell every time. Flea is cool and i think the Chili Peppers are a fine band (last album boring though, sort of like the Clash with Sandinista!) I listen to flea and just think 'i'll never be able to do that' its deperessing, as i started bass so late i see him saying he started at 16 or whatever I try it and all i hear from the amp is the clatter of my thumb clacking the string against the fretboard. How on earth does he do it?! At least with The stranglers i can learn a few riffs and tunes.
+1 for JJ Burnel - got me into loving bass guitar! I do like Flea, his playing on the blood, sugar, sex, magik album is amazing. As for Mark King, yeah hugely talented, I just don't listen to Level 42! Dream theater are one of my favourite bands, but I don't / can't play their songs, what John Myung can do will always be way beyond me!
 19.
hi everyone, Im new to bass, was playing a little bit of guitar at home, till a friend asked me to be bassist in a band, always up for a challenge i said yes, now been playing for a month now, and all going ok so far, got a bass now looking for a nice loud rig as we play heavy metal, need one soon as got a gig in 6 weeks, and still got lots to learn, thought i'd join this site as thought it could be useful and hope to meet some nice people. Baz
Hiya and welcome!
 20.
IMO, the production of Rush live albums has always been awful.. Flat and compressed. The best so far was the bonus disc on Different Stages...
Couldn't agree more, as much as I love Rush a lot of the live albums don't sound great, especially the more recent ones. I do love "Exit, stage left" tho.
 21. I recently picked one of these up on e-bay for a similar price. Bargain! Great Bass! Hope your sale goes well!
 22. I quite enjoy playing "mustang sally" "she sells sanctuary" by the cult, pretty mind numbing on bass, though it is a great song.
