anyone watch queens of the stone age on red button last night? fantastic if only funds would have let me be there!! a lush sound coming from the bassists rig and aray of hollow bass guitars, anyone catch the make of his stack?(looked like an ampeg, but wasnt)sounded sweet.
Yeah! Great stuff, I do love Q.O.T.S.A Saw them at Newcastle, think it was last year, they were great.

 4.
No, Myung isn't a great bass player full stop. Awful isn't really the right word to describe him, he's just VERY overrated in my opinion. His technique is poor in the left hand, and if any teacher taught you to play like he did, they would be doing you a massive disservice. Having watched through some stuff on Youtube it's clear that he has some nice ideas, but he's nothing extraordinary. There are many players on here who are equally competent and capable as he his. Having seen him live with Dream Theatre I was completely unimpressed and bored. I'd gone to the gig as a freebie and went with real excitement about seeing this so called super group and super bassist. Just incredibly dull. It's like paint by numbers for progressive rock! Or paint by numbers for bassists!
You are wrong mate, so,so very wrong!!! IMHO......of course!
 5. Im using studybass.com as mentioned above. Finding it really useful.
 6. I've just bought one too! A Kala U Bass, it's great fun. Gonna be using it at an acoustic gig this weekend with the band I am in. People look amused when you take it out of the case, but are usually blown away when they hear it.
 7. One of my biggest influences, a great bass player!
 8.
I think Cass is probably my biggest influence in terms of rock bass playing. Love his Cutlass basses, so cool. This is fantastic:
Great song! Watched them live years ago, they were excellent.
 9.
And on another day it would have been played different, feel the music. put your stamp on it. x
Couldn't agree more with the above! I have heard lots of versions of Alright now, the bass line is often varied.
 10.
I love the colour. I recently sold an amber translucent one of these that was my main gigging bass for about three years and I have been missing it. Have a bonus bump on me.
....and I was the lucky buyer! Lovely bass, sorry you are missing it, I promise you it's in good hands! Have another bump on me for this lovely bass!
 11. It was "Tube Disasters" by A Flux of Pink Indians, a cover we did at the youth club in Alnwick, would have been mid 1980's. We were awful and so were the disinterested youngsters stood gawping at us. Probably never heard such a din before! I was probably about 16 at the time, playing my 1st bass, a Westone thunder 1.
 12. J.J's solo in "Genetix" by The Stranglers.
 13. Played 2 gigs this weekend, both local pubs. Farriers Arms in Shilbottle Friday night and Alnwick Gate Saturday night. Both went well! Small, but appreciative crowds, seemed to enjoy themselves. We played pretty well, only our 2nd and 3rd gigs with this band line up. Here are a few pics -
 14. Here are a couple of links to clips from the gig. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mclswa3Pibc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1dLmacXFR7I
 15. Thanks again! Oh and for the rig comments! The amp /tuner /rack .....well I have to thank Shaun B on here for that as thats where it has come from, thanks again Shaun! Got the cab at a decent price ex - display. It all sounds great. It is a "Geddy" jazz I am using with badass 2 bridge.
 16. Thanks for the positive comments everyone. Why haven't I been doing this for the last 20 years?!!! Here's a few pics from last night.

Think we played well, got a good response, will be booked there again and someone from a local club came along and wanted to book us for a gig there! 18.
Where abouts is the Gig? I'm at Nikhs in Blyth, which is around your area, so I could probably catch your Band between sets.
Lol! We are playing at The Trap Inn at Broomhill. Thanks everyone for your encouragement. Went out cycling this morning to relax my mind - didn't work! Came back home after an hour in case I fell off and did some serious damage to myself!
 19. Hi all, tonight I am playing my 1st gig since the late 80's (gulp!). Playing with my rock covers band FullBottle at a local pub. I'm nervous, but excited too! We have 2 sets to do, about 28 songs I think in total. We have rehearsed well for a good few months now, so here's hoping all goes well. Wish me luck! Links to videos on my last post on page 2
 20. On a slightly different topic, I have been fully converted to The Stranglers! What a thunderous live bass sound - I think I spotted JJ using four (!) Ashdown 410 or 412 cabs!
Great stuff! J.J is the man! shame BBC chose to ignore their appearance, but not surprising.
 21. .................................................................................................... ..............bump!
