1. This one calls itself the biggest music shop in the centre of Munich: http://www.hieber-lindberg.de/index.php/cPath/42_53_82 They do seem to have a good selection of basses and should be easy to find (near the Stachus). This is not a personal recommendation though. They are said to be a bit on the expensive side, although they will haggle. http://www.justmusic.de/subsection/gitarre...-1-102-0-0.html comes highly recommended on the German bass lists. Good prices and good selection of basses. Its in Hanauerstrasse. Check out the Elektronik Konrad electronics warehouse if you like electronic goodies. It's huge and just round the corner. Have a Radlermass for me! I can recommend the roast ox. Stephen
 2. Not sure if this will work. Uploading a PDF anyway.
 3.
The dispersion angle on the horizontal plane is wider, so everyone can better hear what you're playing, while the dispersion on the vertical plane is lessened, placing more output in the audience rather than aimed toward the floor and ceiling.
Works particularly well with an 8 x 10.
 4.
I had never thought about stacking them 4 in a line though - other than getting them up to ear level, are there any other benefits?
No. It's bollocks. Keep your drivers as close together as possible.
 5.
Sounds like a Series 6 to me. I'll offer £130 if it's in decent nick!
Are you breeding them?
 6.
The 1153 was constructed from 13-ply Birch Ply. I'm not aware of them switching to MDF with the later ones (even after Gibson took over in 1998!)
You should be able to check by looking through the port holes. If you can pull a port tube out (don't know if they're glued), you should be able to see the plies of the baffle.
 7. If the tweeter is a compression driver, there must be a crossover. If there is a crossover, there is likely to be a coil and/or a resistor across the positive and negative wires even after you disconnect the tweeter. To prevent these heating up you need to disconnect the HF section of the crossover at the input, i.e. cut the wires in front of the high pass section of the crossover. If the manufacturer has just used a capacitor to protect the HF unit, or if it is a piezo, you'll be OK. Otherwise, you could set your speaker on fire.
 8. Would you (or anyone) happen to know what kind of wood the cab is made of (i.e. plywood, MDF, chipboard)? A few more pictures would no doubt help the sale along. Do you know how heavy it is? Stevie
 9.
This has all be learned the hard way by me, so be warned the seller will be miffed (even though it is his fault) and will likely as not try and get the upper hand in this.
If the seller escalates the claim you won't get a chance to respond to his statement. I hope you went into plenty of detail when you opened up the dispute. As Warwickhunt said, you learn the hard way.
 10.
Chaps - I'm really loving my Jap '62 Precision at the moment. But the sizeable drop in output between it and my Sadowskys is becoming a problem, and I'd like to find a pickup with a bit more oomph. Can anyone make some recommendations please? I'm not mad keen on anything too 'hi-fi' ish and don't want to be fitting matteries - just looking for a good, high output passive, vaguely 'vintage sounding' passive pup. Many thanks Jones
Do you have the pickups with the bottom-loaded ceramic magnet? I just fitted a set taken from a 57/62 reissue and my first impression is that they are *much* better than anything else I've tried (and I've tried a lot). Fat bottom end, gnarly, growly, punchy, well defined. I certainly wouldn't want to sacrifice that for a bit more output, although we might be talking about different pickups here.
 11.
To be honest, I haven't really got that far. Just a fair price!
What you consider to be a fair price?
 12. Can't believe I misspelled desperate. Maybe I was a bit disappointed after all :-) - especially as it was a local seller.
 13.
Ok ok so its not a real stingray but it is an olp copy with a musicman sterling pup already installed, scooped it for 90 quid, sterling sound, stingray looks, a 10th of the price...nice! will give a review and more pics when I get it (hopefully by friday) out of interest was I bidding against anyone here? I think I got it at such a good price because the seller didnt say in the title it had a sterling pup fitted, only when you read the item description did it say, so Im thinking a lot of people skipped past it thinking it was just a standard olp ray?
You were bidding against me. You just outbid me. I thought it was a bargain, but as I don't believe in owning multiple basses, I wasn't desparate to own it. Well done anyway.
 14.
Fortunately for world sanity and the order of the universe, the Australian one didn't sell. There's a nice (looking) Burns Artist on t'bay now for a comparitively reasonable £795. Jump on it now while they're so cheap here. Link
Dearie me .... it looks like it was made in somebody's kitchen.
 15.
I have seen a burns 62 vistasonic bass for sale the owner wants £1500 for it, have people lost the plot or what. Even if the guitar worked and was pristine you wouldnt get that for it, why do lots of the music population think that because something is old it must be worth a fortune? I have two of these instruments a 62 and a 63 and wouldnt expect to get anymore than £500 each for them, i just laugh when i see this kind of thing.
Somebody was selling a 60s guitar case for £500 on eBay recently. The world's gone mad. Before I was able to afford a secondhand Strat, I had a Burns 6-string (Artist?), and it was nothing special. I think even the cheapest Chinese copy would be better nowadays.
 16.
Hi Guy's, The amp works great, but is missing two knobs, I'll try and get some replacements if possible before sale. £40
A bump for a really good deal. (Put the pictures back on, Lee).
 17.
Hi Guy's, My boss is looking to move on a few Audiophile 2496 PCI soundcards. Just the thing for professional home recordings as they are 24bit at 96K. Plenty of good reviews on google. All in as new condition. Quick sale needed, first come first served. on.co.uk/M-Audio-9900-50765-00-Audiophile-2496-soundcard/dp/B00006I5H5"]http://www.amazon.co.uk/M-Audio-9900-50765...d/dp/B00006I5H5
Sold to me. I've just bought one item from you (arrived today). What else have you got?
 18.
OK thanks, I might just chuck the cab and keep the speakers until I need them and then do a DIY effort
Probably not a bad idea. Nobody seems to be keen on single 2x15 cabs nowadays. The top of the line McKenzies were called the Studio series. If you've got those, you're in luck. Remember to keep all the cabinet hardware (like the metal corners, feet and so on), as it adds up to quite a lot if you have to buy it all new.
 19.
What is the main reason for a guitar lead to suddenly go microphonic? It's been fine for months and now, every move I make comes through lead and clear through my amp.Earthing problem possibly?
I'm not an expert, but microphonics are normally caused by movement of the conductors, which are generally held tightly in place by the plastic around them. If it's happened suddenly, I'd guess at the cable having been stretched. If you want to avoid buying a new one, cut a foot of cable off the end that's microphonic and resolder the plug.
 20. Scott was a PA cab builder based, I think, in Yorkshire in the 1980s. They used McKenzie drivers, which have also disappeared now, but were quite good. Their stuff was mid-market quality. Watch out for mis-tuned cabinets - many bass cabinets were mis-tuned in those days and can be improved by doing it properly. I don't think they are worth much nowadays.
 21.
PM'd my good man cheers Keir
I've now put this on hold for Keir for 24 hours. (Admit it, you're kicking yourself that you missed such a great bargain, aren't you?)
 22.
I'd like £15 Lee
You've got a sale. Pm me.
 23.
Hey there does it have midi in and out. What are your views on using it with a Midi controller?
Yes, it has midi in and out, pages and pages of info in the manual about what you can do with it using midi. Unfortunately that's all lost on me, as I just used it as an effects unit. Perhaps another user could help on that score?
 24. You shouldn't need any extra equipment to do this. Just plug your bass into the aux input of your sound card - then use the sound card's mixer to balance the levels. All you will need is an adapter to reduce the standard jack from your bass to the minijack on your sound card. An adapter cable is preferable to a solid adapter, as the weight of the latter will eventually ruin the input socket. Use your computer's CD player and headphone socket as normal. The sound of your bass will be a bit twangy unless you have an active bass that allows you to cut the mids. Still, it's the simplest way of doing it.
 25. Sent me a really nice replacement bridge for my Yammy - free of charge. Top bloke! (It's on now, by the way).
