2. As a matter of interest, does anyone know who makes Elites?
3.
Shouldn't that be a 200watt celestion? My 1153's were all 200's
Of course, of course, a slip of the pen - I'll correct that now.
4. I'm uploading them - they're just not appearing.....
5. Pics as promised. This is an 8 ohm cab, by the way.
6. This is a great example of the ever-popular compact 15" cab from Trace Elliot. It has the vinyl covering we all know and love (no rat fur) and the original Celestion 200W speaker, which is in v.g. condition. No cuts or rips in the vinyl. There's one dink in one of the metal corners, but that's about it. Size: 610 x 480 x 430mm (H x W x D). Weight is 22kg or 27kg depending on who you believe, but it's certainly quite portable. Despite the fact that this is relatively compact, my domestic circumstances dictate that I use something even smaller. So, I'd also be interested in swapping it for an Ashdown ABM Mini 15, should anyone like to trade up in size. Local pickup from Dorchester would be ideal, but I'll wrap it up well in cardboard for anyone who would like to send a carrier in. Pics will be along soon.
7.
PM to you with my details etc cheers
Sorted.
8.
Remove a fiver and you have another sale
What's this - an auction where the bids go in the wrong direction?
9. Include the postage and you have a sale.
10. Yes, I did that with my Ohm combo. Worked a treat. And Redstriper has done it with his Trace 150. He should be along soon with some pics.
11.
Because its new, will the amp need a while to break in, I mean will it loosen up and get a bit louder? Or is this wishful thinking?
It's wishful thinking. Any difference from running-in is going to be marginal. If you think it's not loud enough, then it's not loud enough. Get your dealer to sort you out while you can. If you wait until your amp has 'run in', your dealer might not want to take it back.
12. Just sent a bass to Scotland with UPS via Interparcel. The insurance was a bit steep, but it arrived in good condition the next day.
13. Sounds like a phase cancellation problem. I know you said it's wired perfectly, but I'd try swapping the positive and negative leads on the Jazz pickup (only). I suspect that's the first thing Andy suggested though.
14. You can take it out of the circuit but you need to make sure you do it at the right place, which would normally be before the crossover to the tweeter. However, as long as there are no crossover components in parallel with the tweeter it would be safe to simply unplug one of the connections on your tweeter.
15. Too deep for my domestic circumstances, I'm afraid, but someone should get a bargain.
16. Yup. I've got one too. It works really well.
17.
I've had both the 3012LF and HO and a couple of OEM versions for about 6 months. They've been added to my plans where applicable. IMO the best twelves made.
Perhaps you'd like to post your measurements.
18.
Stevie .. I can build a sealed cab myself but ported or reflex is too much hassle .. actually am only going to cut-down cab I've already done & probably get flightcaseuk to put a 'finishing' touch on it = cab/flightcase in 1 .. still looking at other cab options but haven't even got my new amp yet !
Simon, you are not going to find a 12-inch speaker suitable for a sealed bass cab, because nobody makes them. Everyone uses ported cabinets nowadays, because they are more efficient and handle more power. Once you have an idea of the internal volume of your box, post it on here and someone will tell you what size of port you need. It's not that hard.
19.
Main reliability iissue is the pre/amp cooupler. Fiddly to get at, but a hardwire fix sorts that stupid clip thing they used.
Interesting. How do you get the clip off? I tried and gave up.
20.
Demo alongside anything under £500 and it will win on most counts. They are small and they really punch. They stuff an Ashdown 300 and give the 500 a good run for its money.
Not completely on topic (sorry) but how does the Mk VI AH200 compare? I bought one recently but haven't been able to compare it with anything else.
21.
If it's that good, why can I find no aftermarket Neo pick-ups?! SD, DiMarzio, Bartolini, Delano? Nope.
I'd be interested in an informed answer to this question, too. Q-tuner makes neo pickups, by the way. The main benefit of neodymium is its weight/strength ratio. That's hardly an issue with pickups, as standard magnet types provide more than enough magnetic flux to do the job. Personally, I wonder why pickup makers are still using alnico at all. Is it the 'vintage' thing or do they also have a practical benefit?
22. Why do you want a sealed cabinet? Reflex is the usual way to go.
23. Could you list the dimensions, please? Looks like a bottom shelf port - it's not rear ported, is it? Are the handles metal? Who built the cab? What type of wood is it made from?
24. Maybe this will make you feel better, Ferret.
